It is unanimous!

Crying? Really? :confused3 Must be a hormone thing.

It's some cool technology but it would be better IMHO without the random stranger pics. It seems a bit too long as well. Walt at the end is cool except he was talking about Disneyland when he said it.

must only be unanimous b/c I didn't get to review it. I'm not impressed by the pictures at all. I like the rest of the technology but think the pictures actually ruin the 'show'. It would be much better with charecters and the graphic overlays minus the pictures. I didn't like it when they announced it and I don't like it now that its debuted.

It gets an "Eh" from me. It is not horrible, but it is not impressive either. I don't find joy in seeing random people's pics on the castle, and I wouldn't want to see my own either.

I'm not a curmudgon, I have been know to tear up at Disney commercials. I just wish they would stop trying to "Plus" their park icons. I didn't like the castle as a cake. I didn't like the letters on Spaceship Earth. I don't like the graveyard they put in front of it either. Sometimes Disney doesn't know when to leave well enough alone.

Not really a hormone thing - not sure why you would think that :confused3. Maybe its getting older and more sentimental. It reminds me of all the memories we've built up over the years. I guess its nostalgia - and I'm a sucker for nostalgia :rotfl:. (I cry at the ending of Lilo and Stitch because it reminds me of certain parts of our family's story - and having Stitch talk about Ohana on the castle reaches me). To me, the whole event tells a story - and its one my family is part of. Its OK if you don't like it though :goodvibes.

We saw it from Poly beach tonight - not much to see from that far away - I kinda missed peacefully watching the castle change colors while waiting for Wishes. But I'm reserving judgement for seeing it in person. That said, I will probably avoid the show on nights when I've had Photopass pictures taken - I really don't want to see myself up there.

Are they actually show people from that day Photo Pass? I thought all pictures preselected from pictures submited online. Am I wrong?

As for show, I saw it on youtube just like I saw World of Color show and I have same impression, LONG and BORING. I love color change technology but I do not like song and I do not care about pictures. I do not hate it but this is something to see once and not to grab a spot in advance.

I think if you conducted a poll, you would discover that it is not at all unanimous. Now mind you that I've only seen seen it on youtube; it was better than I expected, but it didn't wow me. Perhaps seeing it in person will evoke more emotion.

I've read a few places say that 500 of the pictures displayed will be from Photopass pictures taken that day. They could all be quoting the same piece of misinformation, I don't know.

We actually came home to find 43 Photopass pictures taken the day the park closed early for the debut, which was a crazy high amount IME - usually we get 1-2 per character at most.

It gets a 'C' from me. I like the castle as it is and not so much as a screen. But maybe I'll change my mind when I see it in person.

I admit that the changing colors are pretty but I've always liked that.

I just want to add that it seems harmless. Those who don't like it can ride things since the lines will likely be shorter and it doesn't affect the parade or Wishes.

I havent seen the show other than some on youtube. The people that make the comments they dont care about the pictures because its people they dont know, seems rather selfish to me. Those people are YOU. You never saw your child happy with seeing Mickey, you never felt joy riding on some ride?

But some people just prefer to keep their happy family/friends moments private while others like to share with the world. It doesn't make the private people selfish any more than it makes the public people show offs.

I would compare it to some who love sharing family photos on Facebook or other social media while others would never put their families photos out there for the world to see.

Or the difference between those who love and plan a very public engagement in front of thousands of strangers (restaurant, JumboTron at a game, etc.) verses those who want it to be a very private moment between just the two people or maybe include close family.

One set of people isn't better than the other, just different points of view. I know and am happy that many have great moments at WDW or other places, I just am not interested in seeing it or sharing mine in such a public forum. But the concept of the show isn't going to do me in, it will pass in time and be replaced by something that I prefer.

The point of many of the posters here is that, no, the show is not unanimously liked.

I hear ya - and I'm a very private person myself (I get mad at family members who post my kids pictures on FB, etc.). But in this case, I feel like we're already there - thousands of strangers have already seen us. Seeing our picture for a second flashed on the castle in a place where we've been all day just doesn't feel like I'm really in public anymore than I already was. I'm not trying to argue with you or change your mind - its just my opinion. But I completely agree with you that its not unanimous :rotfl:. And I also agree that not wanting your photo up there doesn't make you selfish!

They select 500 pictures taken by photopass photographers before 3:00pm from the same day. It is worth noting since some people here have expressed no interest in having their own pictures shown on the castle during the show, that there is a number that they can call (or a visit to Guest Relations) to have all their pictures withheld from consideration.

Personally though, I love the "Magic, Memories and You" show. I've seen it three times now and I couldn't be more impressed with it. That's just me though

I was originally on board with the whole "celebrating a WDW vacation" thing at first. Now it feels, I dunno, a little like advertising. "Isn't it great to be on vacation here? Don't you want to do it again and again?"

That's not a sentiment anybody here would probably disagree with, but I still feel a little used by it. Celebrating the fact that WDW exists and that people like it feels reductive and a little too post-modern, especially for Disney. It comments on immersion and magic rather than BEING immersive and magic.

I actually love it! The pictures AND the projections are beautiful...I think it's probably just me, but I find such joy in seeing the happiness in others, especially when it involves Disney World! The new TV promotions for MMY with the surprise videos make me cry.

That's what it all boils down to.....there are those of us who LOVE seeing others have joy and happiness and those who think anyone but themselves is boring. I get teared up seeing other families grinning from ear to ear when they meet Mickey. To me, people watching is one of the very BEST things about Walt Disney World, and this is the ultimate in people watching:thumbsup2
I also agree a home video on youtube can not do anything justice, I can't wait to see it in person.

I love it...my dd3 asks to watch this on the computer everyday. I love seeing the pictures of others having fun at Disney...makes me tingly and mushy as others have posted. I especially love the old footage when it sounds like an old movie playing right before Walt comes on:cloud9:
I just love seeing people on Disney rides and with the characters...my people, or other people!
A :thumbsup2from this disser:thumbsup2

I sooooo agree! I get teared up too when I see other families enjoying their magical moments!

I agree! I can't imagine anyone who is not nostalgic loving Disney anyway? Isn't that what it is all about? Let's face it, if all a person cares about is thrill rides there are MANY other parks that have better thrill rides:confused3
