It is said we lost our innocence then....

Thank you for this post, Dan. I have always been fascinated by the Kennedy presidency and the tragic assassination. What a tragedy. :(

Thanks Dan, nice tribute and pictures.

I was in first grade. I remember the nuns whispering at the classroom door and asking us to pray for our president. I remember walking home from the school bus stop and my mom's friend, our neighbor, was sitting on her front steps just sobbing with her head in her hands. Then at home my parents even in their shock tried to reassure me and my siblings, but we all felt the trauma of the tragedy affecting our own little world and the whole world.

Special prayers for Caroline today :(

Very nice Dan.

Your generation had the father...and my generation had the son, who were both taken too soon.

I wasn't even alive yet either. But, seeing footage and reading about it has always had such a profound impact on me. This country did lose a great man and President.

We went to Arlington National Cemetary in Dc when I was in high school. I will never forget just becoming voercome with emotion by the eternal flame.

Thanks for the tribute Dan.

I remember the day clearly, although I was just 4. It was unusually warm for November and I was out with my mom. When we got home my grandmother was watching events unfold on TV. I still remember the large black & white TV in the living room and sitting on the floor watching.

I've always lived in New England and am between Caroline and John in age so I've always been interested in their lives and their legacy. I also clearly remember the weekend John Jr. was lost as there were search planes flying overhead as they covered all of the coastal waters.

The JFK library in Boston is wonderful, a place that shouldn't be missed.

I've always felt connected to JFK, Jr. We were the same age, only born a few days apart from each other. I watched him grow up. He was like the boy nextdoor, or the boy in school that I had a crush on.

I don't think they'll ever be another family that will have such a profound impact on the people.

Oops Dixie Dreamer! Looks like GMTA--I also used profound impact in my post!

Thank you Dan... that was a lovely tribute. I too was thinking of Caroline today... must be a hard day for her :(

Dan,

Thank you for the beautiful tribute. This day must be so hard for Caroline.

Last year on Nov. 22nd we were in Dallas with my son's HS basketball team. We went to the Texas Book Depository and Dealey Plaza. It was very eerie actually being there on that day.

I often wonder how different things would have been had Kennedy not been shot. :(
