It has come to this: Black market Girl Scout Cookies

^^ I agree, if any of the Girl Scout cookies were actually sold in stores, no one would buy them. The chocolate covered peanut butter cookie this year was awful. Cheap chocolate coating over a tiny bit of peanut butter. Their peanut butter sandwich cookies were not much better.

I buy the knock-offs year-round from Walmart or Aldi's (not sure on the raspberry ones). Much cheaper. Then I donate to the troop selling cookies--100% of the money goes to the troop, versus a small percentage when they sell the overpriced cookies. We do this with the Boy Scouts, as well.
Our council doesn’t let us keep the donations either. We have to put the money towards operation cookie or hometown heroes. Now, if a person donates money outside of cookie season, then the troop can keep it.

The girls work hard every season to sell the cookies. It’s the largest fundraiser. Troops do get a cut of the money, and girls earn decent rewards. My daughter sold 1000 boxes this season, so we’ll get a big discount off her week at camp which is nice. She worked 3-5 booths every weekend for 6 weeks. I worked those booths with her. It’s exhausting, but I supported her in reaching her goal.

Saw the regular girl scout cookies for sale last weekend outside of our local grocery store. They were $5 each. Always looked at it as a donation since the cookies are never that good and each year see like fewer in the box. Can't recall ever having them sold online only, no idea why they decided to do that with the new raspberry ones. Wouldn't buy that flavor in either case since it doesn't sound appealing.
Seems many parts of the country raised the price to $6.

Someone posted on FB that Aldi's sells a strawberry cookie that taste like the raspberry.

I haven't tried those, but DS and I both love Aldi's version of "Samoas." (I forget what the specific cookies are actually called, but the brand, I believe, is Benton's.) I used to send them in college care packages.

Different area than mine, I ordered online from my great niece in WV, all the cookies were $5, free shipping if you ordered at least 9 boxes. (Raspberry was sold out) My local neighbor in VA, everything was $5 except the s'mores cookie was $6, I think.

I liked the raspberry rally I tasted (someone brought them to the church social hour). I do NOT like Samoas or Tagalongs.

There has been no Girl Scout cookies to be found in my neck of the woods.

I was disappointed to find out that the new Raspberry ones were only available online but less so when I saw the reviews.

Wow we are $5.50 a box and $6 for gluten free. There’s lot of drama because the council next to us is a lot cheaper 😩

My daughter's counsel sold most for $5, the gluten free (Toffeetastic) and S'mores were $6. It's interesting how different counsels do things, from pricing to how much per box the troop gets and how the sales are managed. Our cookie mom is still a bit frosty that our troop was only offered 1 of the multiple sales locations that our counsel had, and many of the spots were never claimed. She ended up reaching out to a few locations where we sold previously, so we did sell a ton of cookies but the counsel really could have handled it better.

In one of the facebook GS groups there was a ton of backlash with parents, volunteers and leaders asking that the national counsel set rules regarding sales. Simple things like either no limits for online sales (some counsels set limits for how many online sales a scout could have, especially for the Raspberry Rally, other counsels had a free for all where the troop ordered 1000 for local sales, which should have technically not been allowed) and allowing troops to turn off online orders for scout delivery if they had set a specific date to stop accepting individual scout orders- beyond a certain date, the troop couldn't guarantee that the scout could access the cookies and allow them to have on site sales. It's become a real headache. Which reminds me I need to send our cookie mom a thank you of some type, she was amazing.

Ours are $5 a box and use different names... Thin Mints and Trefoils are the same but the others are different. Samoas, Tag-a-longs, Do-si-does, Lemon-Ups, and Girl Scout S'mores. I'm not sure the others are available here.

I have always enjoyed Thin Mints and DH has enjoyed Carmel Delights. They sell them here as we leave the Shop Rite. I am happy to support them. I loved being a Girl Scout, many years ago.

All the ones I bought were $6 a box.
Next year, I'll probably get more from my sibling's co-workers.

Showing my age here, but when I sold Girl Scout cookies they were 50 cents a box. Last month i showed my support (o.k. our addiction) by buying a case (12 boxes) of thin mints for $5.00 per box. This was outside a grocery store and it was a good thing a parent was there to verify that I had the math correct. pffft.

There are 2 different bakeries that make the GS cookies. Each of the 2 use different names for each cookie, but are essentially the same cookie.

::yes:: Here in Canada they have. I just heard it on the radio last week. The troops are actually complaining a lot, as going to the odd-number price will undoubtedly cause reduced door-to-door sales and little stands set up in various places as they have no way to take electronic payments, only cash. People who happen to have a $10 or $20 bill will now buy one box less than they would have before. FTR, we don't have to agonize over the Raspberry Rally crisis. The only cookies sold here by the Girl Guides (not sure why they're not called Scouts) are chocolate, vanilla and the mint ones.

That’s right, the two bakeries used by GSUSA are Little Brownie and ABC. Different areas of the country use one or the other. And yes, most are essentially the same cookies with different names, but there are a few varieties exclusive to the each of the two bakeries. For example, Little Brownie, sold here in my area, has S’mores and Toffee-tastic, not available from ABC bakers (the order sheet posted above). And apparently each local council sets the prices.

LOL, me too. When they went up to $1 a box, (sometime in the mid 70’s, IIRC), people were outraged.
