Tonight my DS10, my baby, asked me if it was OK if he calls me "Mom" instead of "Mommy" from now on. So he won't be embarrassed when his friends are over.:guilty:

Actually I'm surprised it has lasted this long. My DS11 has not made this request yet.:)

That is so funny - just the other day my DS10 started calling me "Mom" - I said what happen to "Mommy"!! He said that is for babies :(

Wow, I didn't realize it was a rite of passage!:lmao: I called my mother Mommy till she passed and I was 46!!

My too tall too big 17yo son calls me Mommy till this day. Since I waited almost 40 years to hear someone call me that, I hope I hear it forEVER!:cloud9:

Me, too. I don't know how long it will be before it becomes habit with him. Right now he has to think first. I love the idea of a teenage boy calling you Mommy.

My college aged nieces still call my DSIL Mommy.

One of my dd's friends made a comment to her when she called me "mother". She said, I have never called my mom that.

My dd responded with, I call her everything in the mom names and also "deaf woman" when she isn't listening.:lmao:

I call my mother mommy and I'm 21. I think I always will.

OMG!!!!

My son is turning 12.

When he was little, he had a thing for tractors and farming.
He actually called me Mama Moo-ie (like Mamma moo cow)
I made him the most adorable little black and white cow costume for Halloween!

We are Mom and Dad now....
But, you know what, now that I see the pre-teen young man that he is turning in to, that is great too....

Thanks for the cute memory!!!!!

my girls have not called me Mommy in years. i think they stopped when they were about 3.

I stopped calling my mom 'mommy' while i was a teenager...mostly because i thought i hated her :rotfl2: SO glad i got over that.

I'm 23...she's Mommy, until she decides she's not going to answer then it's mommy. mom! CINDY!!

My DD16 hasn't called me Mommy in about 14 years. She opts for Mom. My oldest DS23 called me Mommy, then Mom for years. Then after he hit 20 he started calling me "little mommy.":goodvibes He's 6'1", so he towers over me.

I always called my mother "mom" until I was about 15. I had some friends tht called ther mom 'Mother" and I liked to sound of it, so I started calling my mom "Mother." Most of my siblings call her "Mom" still. She says she doesn't care, long as I call her now and then.

I'll never forget the day my DD stopped calling me Mama and used Mommy. She was two years old and it was such a big deal to me. Now, she calls me Mom. If she really wants to work me for something, she'll use Mommy. She's 21 and I still fall for it. :goodvibes

I call mine "little mommy" sometimes too! :lmao:

She's 5'8, but I'm 6'0 so it's justified to me :cutie:

It broke my heart when DD changed from Mama to Mommy, but that was the influence of all those imported kids at preschool. :rotfl2: Now she calls me Mommy at home, but uses Mom around her friends, since she says they'll make fun of her if she uses Mommy because they'll say it's babyish. I let that pass, but told her I won't answer to "Mom" at home.

Mine still calls me Mommy but I also answer to just about anything beginning with an M. Mom, Mommy, Mummy, Mama, and the dreaded Mother. :rotfl:

My 8 year old son started calling me Mom this year-says Mama is too babyish.
Okay I can see that, but how about a transition to Mommy first before we jump right into Mom??

My 10 year old daughter caklls me Mama, Mommy and Mom.

I don't even recall calling my Mom, Mommy, I'm sure I must have at some point-I called her Mom if I was talking about her to my brothers and most of the time I think I called her Ma when I was speaking to her.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I would guess at about 3 they added in mom and by 5 or 6 mommy had totally disappeared from their vocabulary. I thought that was pretty normal!:confused3

I taught K and 1st grade and at school most of the kids talked about "mom." There was no judgement from the kids (or me!) when someone said "mommy," it just didn't happen very often.

I've always thought of mama as LESS "babyish" than mommy. I've known quite a few adults that talk about their mama, but I've never met one IRL that talked about their mommy.

I still call my mother Mama or Mommy. My sister, however, started calling my parents by their first names when she was about ten as a joke. She still does about 50% of the time. I hope my daughter never does that!!!
