It can't be true???

A woman my DH works with goes on DCL almost as much as Barb & Tony do. She told him yesterday that they are not doing the onboard credits any longer!!! Can anyone tell me if this is true???
That is a big perk to cruisers to be able to get a credit if you book again while on the ship!!
Anybody......tell me if you've heard anything!!!!

Maybe she meant that DCL is no longer doing the traditional CC onboard credit where you had to rebook and sail within a certain time frame to get the credit.

For their sake Anne sure hope that isn't what they're thinking. With the price Disney charge, the state of tourism, and the other cruises that are in competition with them the removal of this incentive would be disasterous to them imho.
I know it was what pushed us to rebook on board. Otherwise I wouldn't have, and would have probably waited, and then got all sensible and paid off some stupid bill or something

We just got back today from a 7 day western, and booked an eastern for next year. The woman said that they are doing the credit ONLY if you book while on the ship, but not if you book after you get off the ship. That update is 2 days old. Will post more about the trip after we get some sleep!! Our whole table was other dis-boarders!

I have to say that I did my research before I cruised and brought my prices with me.

The on board credit that was being offered was built into the price of the cruise. I could not get a fair price on board.

When I rechecked the price again when I got home sure enough the prices were much better, you just have to know where to look.

May I suggest to anyone who has booked on board and gotten the $200 credit to check around and not be so happy with that credit. Chances are you will be able to give yourself a $500 or more credit NOW.

When I brought this to the attention of the lovely on board booker she was very short and abrupt about the matter. I think that they just think because you are in dreamland on this wonderful vacation you are not thinking cautiously. I think Disney should give greater respect to their repeat customers and really give us a sig. price break.

If you book onboard you can change your dates at home and still keep the credit. If the new price is lower, you get the new price but keep the credit. One exception to this that I can think of is the Florida resident rate, which usually requires you to give up the credit.

We booked 2 cruises while on board. For 1 the rate was exactly the same as we found at home. The other was a special deal on board, and it really was a good price. The rate was MUCH higher at home!

I know from reading these boards that there are some places where you can book at discounted rates, but it depends on your specific sailing. Some agencies buy blocks of rooms in advance, but mainly for the more popular times. I hate cruising at popular times, LOL!

We transferred one of our cruises to Dreams, kept the credit & also got their rebate. Our cruise has gone up at least $1000 in 6 months, so we're happy.

I booked on board, got my $400 of credits for the 2 rooms, then transferred the reservations to cruise.com for a huge discount. Saved my many hundreds of dollars by using cruise.com AND got to keep the on board booking credits and the rooms I booked origionally.

Thanks everyone for calming my fears. I didn't think that they would do that, so I figured I'd ask the experts here on DIS boards. I told DH what everyone has said here, and told him to tell her she is WRONG!!!!! Thank goodness!

The other poster was correct, you can't change your dates and keep the on board credit if you do the Floorida resident discount. I lost out on my $400 on board credit, but I still saved $1700 on my two cabins by switching the dates and using the resident discount!

You are all a very savvy bunch!!

I had no idea you could transfer your ressie and get a better rate and further discounts as well as keep your credits!!

I always thought you had to cancel and re book if you wanted to use anothers services.

That is something I will have to keep in mind when I sail this summer and will possibly book onboard for next summer!!
