The Panasonic FZ-35 Lumix I ordered from Amazon came today, along with the 8gb SD card, spare battery, and Tiffin lens protector. I know it's not pro equipment, but for me it's a huge jump. I was just so tired of crappy indoor photos and being so limited with the point and shoot I had. I can't wait to get home and start playing.

Congrats and enjoy!! I'm no pro either, but dontcha just love that new camera smell? :lmao:

Now you'll be posting your first pic soon, right? :thumbsup2

OK, it came in and I've had a couple of chances to mess around. I'm a total amateur so I got lots to learn.

The camera so far has been very easy to operate. A couple of problems I've ran into is the SDHC card I bought doesn't work. Not sure why (and no it's not locked)? I bought a cheapo one at Wal-mart and it works fine. So, I have another new nice one on the way.

Also, I took some video, but havn't figured out how to get it off the camera and onto my laptop. Using Photoshop for the photos is a no brainer.

Congrats on the new camera!! Great first pic btw. Have fun learning and keep the pics coming!! :thumbsup2

I hope that you enjoy your FZ35 as much as I have mine. It is a great camera with many features. I have been playing with the AVCHD video, but still prefer the Motion JPEG for ease of use. Here is the POST I did on my camera.

Congratulations on purchasing your new camera! :)
I have a very old camera, so I purchases the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 ( whatever that means) on the recommendation of the Costco sales person. It works well, but I wonder if I should have bought a Cannon SD780. It's cheaper and hear many people rave about it. Any input? :)

These pictures came out nice, but the camera is bigger than initially wanted.

I LOVE your first pics! Hope you are enjoying your new toys. :goodvibes

I do have to wonder though - have we all alienated our families by taking so many pics that now we all have to annoy the pets?? :lmao: Most of my practice pics these days are of the dog. Everybody else goes running when they see me take the lens cap off. :confused3

I just bought the ZS3 also. Have only used it for a few pictures, but am so anxious to try it on other things. We are going on a Panama Canal Cruise in April, really looking forward to that. Any more pictures you have I would love to see and maybe even get some advice.

This is the camera on my wishlist. My mom just got the same one from Amazon and so I'm waiting for feedback from her. I am waiting until after my birthday in Feb to get one, just in case she decides to surprise me with my very own for our upcoming trip in April.

My son has a similar Panasonic lumix and it has been a great camera for him.

One of the best selling points for me is that it has the 12x optical zoom....which is a small upgrade from my 2005 3.3mg Olympus c550, but it is a lot smaller and more practical in size.

I am sorry, I wish I had advice to give, but I am a point and shoot person at the moment. I would love to learn more about photography and my camera, but I just know the basics. I can't wait to see your pictures from the Panama Canal Cruise.

Don't feel bad, I am a point and shoot kind of person too, but would love to know how to do so much more. I absolutely love photography, just need to learn a lot more.

I normally do not use all of the bells and whistles that come with a camera, but the Scenes options in this camera are very useful.
The first picture utilizes the Pin Hole effect.

The FZ35's 27mm lens is fairly wide.

This video was taken while going 60MPH. I had the Wind Cut feature turned on as well as Mode 1 Stabilizer. It was shot in Hi-Def, but the effect is nerfed in this video.

I received the FZ35 for Christmas and I love it too! My first pictures were also of my dog :rotfl:

I am also a bit of a beginner - I have a film SLR but haven't really learned how to use it in manual mode. I am hoping this camera will help - fiddling with some manual options and figure it all out before I try it out on my film camera. Have fun!
