Friday morning, 7am. The sun is trying its best to creep around the edges of the curtains of the room at Pop Century. It was 7, but I had been laying there awake since 6:15 listening to the soft snoring of DS5 and the quiet deep breathing of DD8. I laid there and looked at DW and thought about the big day we were about to have. Waking up early like that is something akin to what I used to feel on Christmas morning as a kid. I'm 40 years old now and it seems that mornings like that are rare these days.

7:15am. Mickey calls and DS pops up like a jack-in-the-box to answer. It seems that Mickey has all sorts of fun in store for us in the parks, so we should get "up and at 'em, pal". Not being the sort to disobey our favorite mouse we get up, dress, scarf down doughnuts, croissants, bananas, Sunny D, and any other continental delight we had thought to bring along.

Even though this is our 6th vacation to WDW I still get that slight buzz upon nearing MK. By the time we hit Town Square and lay eyes on the castle it is full blown euphoria. First stop was Fantasyland. Did Pooh, IASW, Philharmagic, and Peter Pan in the first hour. IASW looks GREAT. I didn't really notice how dingy it had looked before until I saw it post-Extreme Makeover. The new loading area is dreamy with all the white and gold. The dolls looked spiffy. I could see where there had been lots of painting and touch-up done in many places. At risk of sounding like a WDW nerd, one thing I noticd that was NOT working was the volcanoes in the Latin American room :confused3 .

We spent the day hitting most of our favorites, never waiting more than 10 minutes thanks to manageable crowds and FP. Pirates, Space Mountain, Buzz, TTA, HM, Country Bears, etc.

We dined at Casey's Corner (best hot dogs bar none). Caught the new castle show (not our favorite). Snacked on ice cream (OMG, Aunty Gravity serves a mean hot fudge sundae  ). Not having the hopper option (this was an economy trip, you see), we returned to Pop after the 7pm closing fully satisfied with our day at MK. The food court was so insanely busy at 8pm that evening that we decided to go off-property and get something to eat. We would have never considered doing anything like that before, but it was waaaay too inconvenient to wait in those lines at the food court. I would hate to think about what its like during a busy time of year.

We ate, we swam, we rested.... next up...MGM
