Hi, i'm quite new to the boards, have been trying to learn as much as I can! :goodvibes

We fly 5 weeks tomorrow, (it's our honeymoon btw) I've read the Brits guide & the Unoffical guide is there anything you guys can advice me on, esp the best place to book park tickets?

All advice will be so welcome, with all the Wedding planning, the holiday has come second!

Welcome and congratulations on your forthcoming wedding :goodvibes . I'm afraid I'll have to leave others to answer your question about park tickets - we've been buying Annual Passes for years now, so I'm a bit out of touch. How long are you going for, and where will you be staying?

Hi :)
We got married on 11th august, :cloud9: but did'nt want to go on honeymoon straight away for various reasons, for one thing its something else to look forward too!

We r going for 2 weeks, staying at Disney fist week POR then AK

I'm sooooo excited :woohoo:

Park tickets:

For Universal we have annual passes bought direct from UniversalOrlando website - incredible value for money.
However, they frequently have offers on , buy a 2 day ticket get and extra day free etc

www.universalorlando.com

Sea World - always have offers on too, generally buy direct from them.

Disney - Prefer the 'Magic Your Way' tickets as we like the park hopper/non expiry option (that way the tickets last us for more than 1 holiday).
Get these from Maple Leaf direct from their Kissimmee store.
They sell tickets for ALL the parks also.

www.mapleleaftickets.com

There are many places both in the UK and US that can cater for all your ticket requirements - just down to personal choice really.
Best where possible to find somewhere, like Maple Leaf, that issue actual tickets and not vouchers, just makes it a little easier.

congratulations on your recent marriage...
i don't know anything about tickets either (we also buy APs when we arrive at WDW)...

my only advice is to make some advance reservations for onsite restaurants that you're interested in...
it means coming up with an advance schedule of what park what day - but if there are restaurants you want to eat at, it will help...

we usually only make reservations in advance for our absolute musts - like the 50's prime time cafe in MGM, which we enjoy (when you check in - tell them you're on your honeymoon and want a very active server - some of them are better than others)....

Thanks for all the replys so far folks, I was getting a bit worried I had left everything to late, but i think i can get it together in the next week or so, lol.

The resturants r a big thing i've been reading up on, so i think an advanced plan is the best way to go.

This might be a silly question, but as there r only 2 of us, we only need one bed, but is a King room smaller in sq feet than 2 doubles?

Also am i right to think that we can use the pools ect at the other hotels? or do we have to stick to our own?

Thanks again

There are no silly questions here :goodvibes . A King room will be the same size one with 2 Queens :thumbsup2 .

As far as I know, the only people who are permitted to pool-hop are DVC owners. They can use the pools at other DVC resorts (with some exceptions). Having said that, with the possible exception of Stormalong Bay at the Yacht & Beach Club, I don't think you'd be challenged. All the resorts are open to the public and, provided you have the confidence to do it, you could just waltz into most pool areas. Not that I'm condoning it, of course. :duck: Having said that, I don't think you'll find much time to use any of the pools other than those at your own resorts - there's so much more you'll be wanting to do. :thumbsup2

Yeah there is that!! I think we will prob be happy just having a look around the other hotels, praps if we go to eat, or on a non park day, all research into our next hol of course ;)

I thought of somthing else earlier, now it gone right out of my head  lol

Hi, congrats on the wedding and honeymoon! Hopefully we'll be planning our Disney wedding next - as long as he says "yes" when I ask him on this trip...!

Another good site for tickets is Undercover Tourist. We've used them loads and they are great. They also have a pick up office on S Kirkman if you wanted to collect them there. One of the things we use them for is that we can get the Magic Your Way tickets rather than the Ultimate which works out much better for us. They are a US based company with a UK office which means they can sell them to the UK public. It would be well worth having a look at the various options and seeing which works best for you - you can end up spending a lot of money for features that you won't use. We don't go to the water parks but love park-hopping and the MYW with park hopper for 10 days worked out a lot cheaper than the 14 day Ultimate.

One of my (many) gripes with the Brits Guide is that it doesn't tell you that you can do this. Also, by going direct to some of the other parks like Universal, SeaWorld etc you can get a really good deal. Again, this worked out much better for us than the Flex ticket.

We've also had Cirque du Soleil e-tickets from UCT and there was no problem with them at all.

We've got 2 weeks in Orlando and then a week in Miami. We'll visit SeaWorld, Universal, IOA and Busch Gardens in the first two weeks so only needed a 10 day Disney ticket. The other 4 days on the Ultimate, along with the water parks and a few other things would have been a complete waste for us.

I worked it out and by being shrewd with what tickets we needed, shopping around for the best deals and going direct we saved over £60 for the two of us. We also used Online Florida but I can't remember which tickets we got from them. Again, they were really good and their customer service was good.

We got a great deal by ordering our currency well ahead of time and having it delivered from Crown Currency Exchange. We got an exchange rate of 2.025 on our money and it was delivered, as requested, last Saturday morning

Hope you have a fantastic time - we are eating at Boma at the AKL and would love to stay there.

Take care and have fun!

Thanks for all the tips Karen!!

I have booked direct with Discovery Cove & got the 14 day pass to Seaworld & Busch Gardens, for £100 less than if I booked with First Choice!! So it realy does pay shop around :cheer2:

No worries, glad you found it useful.

I wouldn't mind doing Discovery Cove but we aren't really water people so it seems as if it would be a bit of a waste for us. I can always justify using the money somewhere else so I'm not sure if we'll ever get to see it.

Have a great time and give the dolphins a pat from us!

Another site you might want to check out is www.orlando-ticket-deals.co.uk, they have the cheapest UK prices we've found, and we've booked all our tickets through them and they've arrived within the time they said they would etc.

Found them very reliable and helpful.

I can't really advise you on what tickets too get as it depends on the length of your stay and what you plan on doing.

For our 21 day stay next month we got the 21-day-ultimate tickets, as we like the flexibility it offers, although it is quite pricey. We also got the 4-park-flex-ticket, we couldn't justify the 5 day one as we get busch gardens admission with our discovery cove tickets.

Just work out what you need, and its not the end of the world if you buy tickets and don't use all the days, or if you run out of days on a ticket.

Most of all, enjoy your first trip to the most magical place on earth!! :wizard:

You'll have a wonderful time at DC-if Lester is your dolphin give him a big kiss from me and tell him he made my 40th birthday. One thing I would say for DC is to buy a waterproof disposable camera here not in the park-you will pay through the nose for one (or should that be through the snorkle:rotfl2: )

Hi Katy, it loks like u will be out there the same time as us, we fly out on the 12th October, just 2 days b4 my new hubby b'day, lucky bug that he is!!

Just having a look at the ticket site now, they do seem to have some good deals, I think I'll go for it :woohoo:

I might see you there then becks, I'll be the one running around and screaming like a 5 year old...

I'm sure I'll stand right out...
