I am trying to plan out my days and I was going to use rider swap. We will have a one year old with us.

Please share any problems that you incountered when using RS. Awhile back I read that someone was told early in the morning, that they could not get one, and someone said they had trouble at 7DMT because everyone in their group didn’t have a FP.

What do you say to the CM, if they are telling you no?

I don’t want to waste my time planning, if when I get there, I can’t get the RS pass.

Thanks for any help, we have never used RS, so don’t really know what I’m doing LOL

If your child is too small for the ride, then you can get one. Anything with a height limit. If there is no height limit then they usually aren’t offered unless there’s a medical reason your child can’t ride.
You usually need to show the child to the CM at the line entrance, so be sure to stay together until you get the pass/lanyard from the CM.
We are going in June with a 2yo and I am getting FP’s for everyone in the party, but will still get rider switch in case our FP window ends before the other adult can ride.

There's nothing to say in that instance because they're within their right to do so. Disney has never written (to my knowledge) that only one person needs the FP, so they can require that everyone needs one. In practice it seems to be that they only do this on the more popular rides (7DMT, FOP) and it seems to be inconsistent at that.
The safest thing to do is to book everyone a FP and not have to worry about it.

We used rider swap and had no issues but didn’t use it for many of the thrill rides.

We used it for Everest, kali, tower of terror and barnstormer and had no problems.

What do you do with the FP for the 3 yo who can't ride?

They don’t necessarily NEED a FP in order to enjoy their time while everyone rides. It’s a good time for potty breaks, snacks, going on a ride with a short standby, finding a character, or just getting out of the stroller and running around. We have never gotten another FP for something else while everyone else rides something that one of the kids can’t, and Ive never felt like she is missing out, we stay busy :-)

Never had an issue in 7 years (my daughter didn’t hit 48” until she was 8!). Seriously doubt you will as a couple with a 1 year old. Reports of problems are very much the exception. There are always cast members who mess up the procedures. Best bet is walk away and go to a different cast member - they switch often.

We were there in November and utilized RS for our one year old. I never had any problems and booked a separate FP for my one year old son and myself. CMs at FoP and 7DMT never had an issue with us, they just asked to see the little one and then let my husband continue on in the line.

I guess I’m confused by this...the OP has a 1-year old, who I understood didn’t need/couldn’t get a FP, as they will not have a park ticket...??
The OP does yes. I wasn't asking of the OP specifically but to Rider swap in general to learn the process for all too short be they infant or over 3

Sure they may need to use their FP right then but it seems silly and unfair to not let them use their FP at all. My three year old is too short for some things. If everyone booked FP for the taller rides that my six year old can go on there would be no one to ride with him and his FP.

A CM at Splash Mountain once refused to give me a rider switch pass first thing in the morning. He told me I couldn’t have one until the wait time was 20 minutes.
By the time DH got off the ride the wait time was 20 minutes, so I approached the CM again and asked if I could have one now. He looked at the wait time and gave me one, but he really didn’t want to. For the rest of the trip I didn’t ask unless the wait time was 20 minutes so I don’t know if that was a rule at the time.

Yeah that has happened to us once, they just said we didn’t need one because there wasn’t a line yet. When the first group got off the ride there was a long line so we went back to the front with the baby and they gave us one with no problem. That annoys me but it doesn’t happen that often.

That’s what I am worried about. We were going to head straight to BTM & Splash in the morning. Everyone but myself was going to ride both, then we were going to head to Fantasyland and use our FPs on rides that the baby can ride. Then when they take her back to nap I was going to go ride BTM & Splash with DH & DS using the RS pass.

Switch out and ride BTM and Splash right away. Then head to Fantasyland and use the Fast Passes.
