Firstly let me apologise because I know this not strictly the place for this question.

I know we have left it very late but we have just found out that DD needs internet access for her college work.
We are taking a laptop with us.
Can anyone tell me the best way to find and ISP in Florida.
I have just phoned Access Orlando and there office is closed for the weekend.
I would preferably like to sign up here in the UK before we get to the US. (online of possible)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards......Ted

Sign up for a free Juno/Netzero internet access. Use the resort address and phone number to sign up.

When you do, it'll give you several access numbers that are closest to you. Pick one or several of them.

That's what I do when I travel. Juno/Netzero has a lot of access numbers all across the US. You get 10 hours free each month, or if you want the unlimited, you could shell out $10 or so, then just cancel later.

PS: one way to tell if it's local call is to not put a 1 before the area code. If it connects, then it's local. If it doesn't then you know it's long distance.

I have wireless internet now for my laptop, but I was wondering the same thing. Before we signed up with our ISP I was thinking about going to one of the public libraries in Florida to check my email and online courses.

Also, I asked that question here on the boards and I didn't get a lot responses. I teach online classes as well as in-classes and when I go on vacation I assign course work and it is submitted to me via email by my students. It's crucial for me to have internet access while on vacation.

Anybody know if any of the Disney resorts have broadband access? I hate dial up. The only response I got was that the Swan and Dolphin has it.

I just saw recently on a thread that CSR has high-speed internet and wireless in public areas now. In addition to my local cable provider, I kept a minimum MSN account just so I can have an ISP wherever I travel - it works dial-up in any location I've ever been, and broadband or cable if available.

Only some resorts have broadband:

As of October 1, 2003, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort began offering high-speed Internet access in its guest rooms, at a charge of $4.95 per hour or $9.95 per 24 hour period. Within the next six months or so, all of Disney's convention hotels and Home-Away-From-Home/Disney Vacation Club resorts are scheduled to get high-speed Internet. The projected dates (subject to change) are:

Yacht & Beach Club - November 4, 2003
Contemporary Resort - December 2, 2003
Grand Floridian - December 2, 2003
Boardwalk Inn and Villas - December 30, 2003
Saratoga Springs Resort - January 30, 2004
Villas at Wilderness Lodge - February 27, 2004
Old Key West - April 2, 2004

Disney now offers Wi-Fi (high speed wireless Internet access) in the public areas of its convention hotels. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled laptop computer or PDA to access the Internet from designated areas of each resort. Smart City is the provider and bills the guest using a secure credit card transaction via an on-screen Internet connection. Requires a wireless interface card (WIC), available for purchase in the resort's business center. $4.99 per hour or $9.95 for a 24-hour period.

Locations for Disney's Wi-Fi access:

Grand Floridian - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Beach Pool
Contemporary - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool
Yacht & Beach Club - Main Lobbies, Convention Center Hallway, Stormalong Bay Pool
Coronado Springs - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool, Francisco

Don't count on using a computer at the library. They require a library card to use them.

Just sign up for AOL, use the free month and cancel it right away when you get back.

On another note, Does anyone know if AKL has high speed access?
