haven't come across anything in the stores yet - can you recommend an affordable place to shop? (looking for Easter dresses)

Where do you live? I've found some wonderful formal (ish) dresses for my daughter in the Boscov's junior section. The best part is that the most expensive one was on onl y $19.

I know Boscov's has a website, but it is kind of stinky. The selection is much better in person.

Macy's and Nordstrom have racks and racks of them. Otherwise I always had good luck with Wooden Soldier when DD was younger.

Have you checked out JCPennys? They have some really nice cute dresses for under $30

BonTon had some nice ones! I think they were 40% off too :thumbsup2

I always have good luck at JCP when I need a dress for dd that doesn't make her look like a you know what ;)

OMG, that is adorable! And beautiful!

And totally appropriate for a young lady. :goodvibes

I'm sure she'll feel like a princess wearing it. :)

Its fancier than I wanted because I hate when they cannot wear it again. But she loved it and it has the doll dress..Now I am off to find matching pink shoes....with a heel of course!

I've seen some cute dresses at Costco, but they might be a tad too "little-girlish" and not enough "young-lady like" for some tweens.

agnes!

Thanks for the info - I have several sites to check out. I did check out JCPennys - they have a great selection online - I just hope when I get to the store its just as good. (when I shopped around Christmas for her there wasn't as much tasteful to choose from)

I'll get to looking

Don't have either of these stores nearby & can only dream when I get my Wooden Soldier catalog

I'm in the south - never heard of this store

When we took a cruise I bought several things at Kohls for my dd. I have also had okay luck at JCP and very good luck at Macy's. At Macy's just about a year ago, I had my pick of about five really perfect dresses for dd to wear to my niece's wedding. It was tough to choose! They were on sale too. And it was literally one year ago at this time. They had some leftover things on deep clearance from the holidays and things already on sale for Easter. This was in the 7-16 section (she's a size 12).

Dillards is another one.

Its a NE store. I want to say PA and NJ (possible DE). It is a department store that is not JC Penney-- but sort of similar.

Do you have Kohls? Sometimes I find things there as well.

I agree. They just opened a JCP near the train station and I have been pleasantly surprised by their selection. They even have a plus sized collection for those harder to fit girls. :thumbsup2

If your DD still wears the girls sizes the Burlington has an amazing selection of dresses and almost always under $30.

My issue with my tween is that she is wearing a Juniors medium or a 9/11 - she is 5'4" tall and already 125#'s - she can no longer wear a girls 16, no more princess dresses for her.

Finding her Christmas dress was tricky, she is only 11 and does not have all the necessary accessories needed for a proper fit of many of the Junior styles nor are many of them Mother/Father approved. We finally found a nice babydoll style that was not too short or hoochie at JC Pennys.
