Disney’s timeshare units are reported as “Inventory” in their financial reporting. It is an asset valued as the lower of cost or net realizable value.

There is therefore limited risk for Disney to carry DVC inventory.
That's interesting and definitely makes sense. But the question we were discussing was the timing of how they recognize revenue once the inventory is sold.

Anyway, I'll put my accounting hat away and get back on topic. The restaurant looks amazing and I can imagine will be a tough ressie during fireworks time. The link that was broken yesterday is working now and they mention more about the pocket gardens which they claim are exclusive to resort guests. I wonder how they'll police that?

I’ll see myself out if this has already been on the website and I’m just now noticing it, but isn’t this new? I know we knew about “Samoa” from the plans, but wasn’t sure if we had names for the others.

“Tower Guests also have exclusive access to 4 gardens—tropical terrace hideaways—each themed to a different island. These impeccably designed terraces highlight the flora and artwork of Bora Bora, Hawaiʻi, Samoa and Fiji. Plus, their uniquely themed seating areas offer spectacular views of Magic Kingdom park fireworks on one side of the tower and Disney’s Oak Trail and Magnolia Golf Courses on the other.”

I have always dreamed of having exclusive access to look at the golf course.

Accountants are always so darn precise...

The Statistician in me would just say that I am 90% confident the the mean opening sales date for the IT is October 1, 2025 plus or minus 60 days...

Check this page in the coming months for booking and Add-On details.
"in the coming months"....ugh!

Was hoping for fine dining on this one.
Agreed but I do think this format seems pretty flexible and makes sense to serve a lot of different needs without adding multiple dining venues... I'm excited to try it out!

So maybe we should just take it as face value for now, but do we think it’s really only exclusive to those staying at the tower? Or will it include all PVB guests? And no hotel guests? I’d be surprised if no hotel guests were allowed….oh maybe it means tower guests get for dibs on booking this space? I wouldn’t mind that

I know better than to take website/marketing wording as fact vs. actual resort operations (way too many degrees of separation between the two), but my speculation/vote is that they will use room key card/Magic Band access controls on the elevators for registered Tower guests, or potentially the gardens themselves.

This thread is becoming an entirely new level of distraction from my work day and I'm here for it :)

I'm headed down on Labor Day for a few days with friends who are looking to buy RR - we're meeting with my guide on the 3rd - can't imagine that Poly would be on sale but hoping as such!
You don't have be be there in person to buy. They'll let you know when you can, and believe me, they'll take your money long distance.

With their wording, I agree with you.

So it this the first truly DVC hotel exclusive space they’ve created then? ToW Is for DVCY, as is all the other lounge spaces right? For once, it probably doesn’t matter if you’re a resale owner, direct owner or booked to stay with cash, as long as you’re staying at the tower, you can go up. Exclusive but fair.

The only thing I’d be curious about is if people saying at the long houses (DVC) will be able to go up to those gardens or not?

I don’t think longhouse or hotel guests will be able to get up to these gardens. It’ll be exclusive to all tower guests. My guess is they don’t want all of these people roaming the halls where paying guests stay. Similar approach to needing room key access to get into the club access longhouse.

Those are very pretty! I wonder whether the angles will be good for fireworks viewing unless you're in the first row or two, though. This art, at least, suggests a very sideways view so the folks who aren't at the very front of the shoebox would be better off heading to the beach.
