In regards to the points speculation, I researched a one bedroom preferred at RIV and DLH and they come in late February at around 50 to 63 points at night (saturdays). I’m surprised the points are neck and neck with VGF. But I’ll be interested to see the Theme park views. Those may be significantly more.

I’m actually more interested in how the Duos will be priced with points than anything else. That’s a whole new category for WDW.

I just compared RIV and VDH and was shocked. VDH’s point chart is almost a copy paste from RIV’s. I didn’t look at VGF though.

There are duos at RIV. They are just called tower studios there.
I've been in the tower studios at RIV and the duos at VDH. Admittedly, I've only been in each type of room once. In looking at them now, the one time I was in a tower room at RIV, the bed was down and made when I arrived. Maybe I was bumped from a tower room to something else? Unsure. I just went to where the MDE app told me to go. But the bed was made when I got there (and down) and in California, it was a murphy bed that pulled down. Both rooms were tight.

The duos at RIv have the pull down Murphy bed and sleep 2 as well.

We haven’t stayed in it but toured one and it was not down during the showing.

So, they are basically the same set up at both resorts. Interesting that when you got to your room it was already pulled down

The deluxe studios have the bed and the Murphy bed so you would have known had you been in something else.

My thoughts of adding on at Poly were dashed when the family stayed at RIV this year. They hated the idea of not staying at Poly prior to the trip but after that week they only have interest in RIV so that is where I will have to add on.
I am a huge poly fan, but if the price isn’t right the riviera is a no brainer for us as well. It lasts another 4 years past the polys expiration and it’s cheaper. We haven’t even stayed there yet but after digging into the incentives I’ve watched some videos and have been convincing myself it makes more sense. I’ve never had trouble booking the poly at 7 months and I don’t expect it changes much

I like poly and BW on my solo trips but the comments from the family ( who have done BW/BCV/VGF/SSR/Poly) were:
1. Having food / bar / pool in one building saves lots of walking - no wet runs from Pago to get food/drinks
2. They felt less "overrun" than at poly since RIV felt very calm and less crowded.
3. Skyliner to Epcot and dedicated busses was more in line with the Young adult/Adults needs
4. They felt the new tower was far from TTC one of the benefits that they liked from the longhouses.

I think the tower will have a gym and some food so that makes it good for me. I also like Duo studios for solo trips.

It's interesting that, depending on how things are priced come October, the Poly may actually drive a lot of Riviera sales.

I was listening to a podcast review of VDH recently and I guess the VDH duos are a bit smaller in sqft than the Tower Studios at Riv? It would make sense as VDH had so little footprint to work with… otherwise same configuration of course, Murphy and nothing else.

Apparently the bathrooms at the Duos are at least the same size as the studio ones though. But that strikes me as odd. To me there’s absolutely a market for “couple’s studios” at Disney resorts, but we want a fixed, comfy, King bed. Steal sqft from the bathroom if you have to! I mean, if it’s a deliberately small room that’s “just a bed” at least make that the focal point. The reviewers I listened to requested a mattress topper for the VDH duo murphy just for it to be comfortable for them.

Or at least a King Murphy. Is there such a thing?

We would have added on more direct at Poly, but they waited too long to open sales for us.
We have a December 13-20 trip with RIV for 2 nights, PVB longhouse for 2 nights, and tower studio for opening 3 nights.
What we think of RIV and tower will play a larger roll. If we love RIV, maybe a resale for cheaper RIv buy-in. Plenty of other points to allow us to stay elsewhere. If we prefer Island Tower, only way we buy direct now is if it is priced like BPK.

The ttc point was a factor when we bought poly via resale earlier this year that if the tower wasn’t part of the same association then it wouldn’t bother us, we’d be more than happy with “just” the longhouses.

I’ve been intrigued by the tower from the off and was always in the “give it a chance” and “let’s see what it looks like when it’s finished camp”, I look forward to staying there one day as it’s new and shiny but I think we’ll still prefer the longhouses overall.

I do not have a MK resort yet. Just AKV and SSR. I am thinking about adding on at the IT or at VGF. We stayed in a VGF deluxe studio and thought it was okay, and in March currently booked a 2 Bedroom. Hopefully we like this room more. If we have a chance to book at IT, then we will switch, but I have seen just 1 2-bedroom declared and they are Theme park view rooms so I could just imagine the points to stay. If the family enjoys VGF then I think that is what I do, but if we switch and stay there, I would prefer to have villas with the extra bathroom. BLT was convenient but current not our style.

Adding to #3 which sort of goes with #1.

Covered Walkway to the dedicated busses!!

I've been soaked retrieving food from Pago Pago (even if the other longhouses are open and I can avoid the rain a little bit) but certainly don't have that issue at RIV or when walking to catch a bus.

Having gotten spoiled over years of stays, I now prefer one bedrooms over studios whenever possible, so that is why I am waiting for the Island Tower to open up. The regular poly studios are very nice and I have stayed in them several times, but I really want a one bedroom. I did recently buy 120 pts resale at Poly (two contracts) so I will be able to reserve there once they open for that. I also own at RIV, which is one of my favorites.

I’ve never had trouble booking the poly at 7 months and I don’t expect it changes much
I also expect it not to change to much at the moment for studios. 1 & 2 bedrooms I think will be much more difficult at 7 months.

Also we don't know what will happen after 2042. Right now a lot of Poly owners leave at the 7 months to grab larger accommodations for about the same points than two studios. If the 2042 inventory will stay available then I think it will continue this way but if it dries up owners may just book the 2 studios and ask for adjoining rooms.

The reason for mentioning the 2042's is with the exception of OKW are in desirable locations with lower point charts.

AKL and SSR will still be available but a little farther to the parks.
The rest with the exception of CCV have higher point charts.
Since anything over 4 at CCV requires a 2 bedroom I ruled that out as I figure owners will be grabbing those at 11 months but I could be wrong.

I think it will impact Riveria for this. Boulder Ridge is the only one for MK area. The other MK resorts dont expire for a while. But you also have to think that BWV and BCV owners won't have their points anymore either. I wish there was some sort of data that shows how many home resort points are actually used at their home resort. Would be good to look at going into 2042.
