Island Of Adventure .... i think its called

Where is this near? Is it near Seaworld ?
Is it a big theme park its self or part of Seaworld

I am confussed of what IOA actually is and where it is?

What kind of attractions has it got and is it worth a visit, do u need a whole day there?

Many thanks

its on the universal development, next door to the studios

we do half day in each park

there is a universal board on here as well so you might get some good answers there as well

Islands Of Adventure is part of Universal Orlando.
It's a theme park situated next door to it's sister Universal Studios.

Access to both parks is via the same parking lot, main entrance.
You basically choose which one you want to visit as you walk through an entertainment/shopping complex called Citywalk.
Therefore both parks essentially are walking distance apart.

IOA does attract a teenage audience as there are several thrill rides there such as Hulk and Duelling Dragons - 'themed roller coaster rides' in simple terms.
There are also attractions based upon well known characters and movies such as Spiderman and Jurassic Park.

A kid's area called Suess Landing, has more gentle character rides and carousells for little one's.

There are a number of water rides at the park also - so you could get wet. :)

You can buy multi day tickets that include passes combined for Sea World and Universal, SW is a couple of miles up the road location wise.
US is close to the north side of International Drive and SW is at the southern end.

But i dont think im doing too bad already, i am slowly getting the idea of things already thanks to everyone on here being so helpful :goodvibes

So is it possible to do Universal Studio's and Island Of Adventure in 1 full day? Are they not big parks?

Many thanks again :goodvibes

Islands of Adventure is next door to Universal Studios - about a 5 minute walk between the 2.
If you go on the link below it will take you to an interactive map of IOA - you can also see on for US by clicking on the relevant tabs on the same site.

Islands of Adventure is exactly as it sounds - an adventure based theme park so the attractions as focused on super heroes, dinosaurs and the 'soon-to-be-open' Harry Potter World.

We love both parks and would normally spend a day in each - you would find it difficult to do do both in one day if you wanted to try everything out, but if you had a list of favourites that you planned on sticking to it might be possible.

The 12 year old boy in your party will love IOA, it has thrill rides and has some superhero theming.

It depends how busy the parks are and how late they are open on the day you visit really, but I would guess a day for each would be better, especially since it'll be your first visit. :)

We usually get a multi-day ticket and pop back and forth between the parks during the day.

As the PP says it depends on how busy the parks are when you visit.

When we previously visited (in May 05) the crowd levels were fine, we got there first thing and easily did all the 'big' rides in both parks well before tea-time, even with an hour's breakdown on Spiderman 3D :) That said it was only us two then, this time around we are planning a slower pace with DD. We might even give US / IoA a miss this time around (unless Harry Potter is open!).

From your "help me understand the distance between the parks" thread:

Universal Orlando comprises Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, CityWalk, and the 3 Universal hotels. Again they're all part of one overall property, but, unlike WDW, once you're parked up, you walk between them. From the parking lot, you enter the complex at CityWalk and the entrances to both parks are off that.

I was just about to suggest that Deb had already answered that one :rotfl2:

i think you should look into getting "the brits guide to orlando" you would find it really helpful.

I would agree with Natalie, if you purchase a guide book I would recommend, like Natalie, 'The Brits Guide to Orlando' by Simon veness, this will help you be less confused, you will still have lots of questions but you will have a better idea of what you really need to ask to suit your party.

I have a dummies guide to Florida that i no longer need, although it does have a lot about surrounding areas as well as Orlando (inc Miami) so you might be best with a book that just concentrates on Orlando if that is where you will be based all holiday.

This really depends on when you are visiting since Universal's front of the line (fast pass equivalent) is not a free option. You either pay $42.99 (inc tax) per person when we were there 2 weeks ago. Or stay in a Universal hotel and you get FOTL for duration of your stay plus departure day.
I would allow at least 1 day per park :)
