Island Hopping Excursions

Has anyone taken the one day island hopping excursions booked through the excursion desk at Aulani? We are going to Aulani in September and are overwhelmed by the excursions offered. We found out that Aulani offers excursions to other islands and was wondering good the tours were? We are probably interested in either Kauai or the big island of Hawaii........

I hate trying to see an area of say a cruise ship during a day, this sounds even worse to me. I wouldn't do it but what I might consider would be 2-3 days (or more) at the beginning or end of a trip for another island.

I did one of these excursions to the Big Island, specifically to see Volcanoes National Park. Overall, I was satisfied even though it was a little pricey. I would have liked a little more time at VNP, but I also understand that with these excursions you can't make many modifications. Traveling as a single female, it really wasn't something that I wanted to tackle on my own, so booking this excursion worked well for me.

Having said that, I'm hoping to go back to Aulani next year and want my mom to go with me. We want to see Maui, and I'm thinking of trying to get a cheap-ish flight over there very early in the morning, renting a car to tool around the island, and taking a late flight back that evening. To be honest, it's more of a scouting mission to see if Maui is somewhere that I would like to spend more time at in the future.
