Is your state "safe"?

CA is #9, up from #10 last year. Woo hoo, moving up in our quest to be the most dangerous state! :thumbsup2

(I'm surprised we weren't higher) :confused3

Well, the one time I visited Memphis was many years ago when they predicted a huge earthquake would hit that area. I was staying at the Omni Hotel and working at an office building that day. Of course, nothing happened, but everyone was just waiting for the "big one" to hit. Except for the Peabody and some incredible bbq I had there, it was a less than memorable visit.

Everything aready said about Memphis is true.... unfortunately I live in Shelby County...but as far away as possible from Memphis and still be in the same county. Bomb Memphis off the face of the planet and Tennessee's ranking would go to 48.

IL, 21 "up" from 19.

I noticed ND was the safest, probably because no one lives there! :duck:

Well -- you would have to take Jackson with Memphis -- It was ranked 9th worst crime for its population. Unfortunately -- I live in Madison County but right on the Henderson Co. line.

Not to keep beating up on Memphis... during my visit I was teamed with a corporate marketing manager who drove me around so I didn't need a rental car. "Shirley" drove like a bat out of Hades, weaving in and out of traffic, buzzing through red lights, barely missing pedestrians... all the while carrying on a conversation with the people in the back seat. So what's the problem, you ask?

Shirley was talking AND LOOKING at the people in the back seat -- while still driving!

Maybe that's why TN is so unsafe? All thanks to Shirley!

:lmao: I think you are right -- Tennessee has the worse drivers of any state I have lived in -- give me the Beltway any day over lunch time on Vann Drive. :lmao:

Just think where we'd be without Camden! (Most dangerous city in the US on many lists).

Camden??? Really? I can understand Newark, but never heard that about Camden, but then again I'm not a Jerseyite.

Camden is BAD. When I was in HS I managed our boys basketball team. We made it to finals against Camden, and none of the female managers were allowed to go to Camden High for the game. When DH was in HS, his baseball team (Trenton) played at Camden and the Camden students threw rocks at their heads as they were running for the bus.

It has gotten worse since then.

Wisconsin is #42. Not bad! I thought we'd be a bit higher, thanks to Milwaukee. People have been getting shot and killed in broad daylight lately, which is unusual for Milwaukee. A boxing coach from Waukesha (about 30 min. from Milwaukee) was shot and killed earlier this week at around 3 PM while he was at the gas station. :sad2: What is with people??

Wowza I just moved from the least safest state (Nevada) to #14 (Washington). I'm kind of shocked that Nevada is the worst in the nation?!?!? I do think their crime has skyrocketed in the last 10 years..but I still find that very surprising.
I have also heard that warmer states have higher crime, because even burglars and other criminals stay inside when it is cold!! :cool1:

I didn't read the thread, so if someone already posted it, sorry.

Ohio is the 28th safest state. We're almost always right around the middle. :)

I think North Dakota is probably safest because nobody lives there.
