Is your silverware drawer segregated?

I have a silverware tray that has compartments for the different pieces. I am a stickler about putting the silverware in its appropriate compartment.

For example, small forks in first compartment, them large forks, then small spoons, then large spoons, then knives.

My sister throws everything into the drawer so it's all mixed up. Drives me crazy!

So are you a silverware sorter or not?

BTW, my towels all have to be folded the same way and placed in the same direction so they look neat as well.

Me too! On both the silverware and the towels.
In my guest room where the guest have their own towel cabinet, the towels
are two different colors and I always put them in sets.

When MIL visits she's a doll and always empties the dishwasher for me.
I don't mind that she puts stuff in the wrong place when she dosen't know where they go BUT she mixes up the silverware ! Come on you can see the other pieces in there just put the like stuff together. I NEVR complain though:) it drives me crazy

I segregate my silverware, but do not pay attention to towels (they're lucky if they get put back in the cupboard). However, it bothers me when DVDs, video games and books are not properly alphabetized on my shelves.

Me too on both counts. The funny thing is DH is the "neat freak" in the house yet he just tosses stuff in closets and cabinets any which way. It drives me nuts. I don't mind a little (focus on little) clutter but he can't stand any clutter.

When I first saw the movie Sleeping with the Enemy, I couldn't understand why Julia Roberts' character would be so opposed to having the towels evenly distributed on the towel bar and having the non-perishables in the cabinet all facing front. I thought, "doesn't everyone do that?" Evidently not, but that's the way it is in my house. I even have different shelves in my pantry for sweet things and for canned tomatoes and soup, etc.

So, yes, my silverware is sorted properly and my towels are folded the same way and face in the same direction.

This is me as well. I am in no way a "neat freak." My husband is much more of one than me. These two things irk me though.

My mother is very particular about her house so I guess I picked up a few things from her. Her linen closet looks like the one in Martha Stewarts photos.

Proud silverware sorter, towel folder, and pantry organizer here! :goodvibes

I don't believe in segragation, those forks deserve to be in whatever compartment they want, even if they are next to the spoons!

I agree with you, OP - separate sections for silverware, and towels all folded and put the same way on the shelf. :) I couldn't stand just throwing silverware into a drawer willy nilly!

Definitely sorted. Ugh. My Dh threw it all in the drawer once. Drove me crazy - I had to sort it right away.

I used to be organized but I've been living in an apartment for about 3.5 years that only has skinny drawers that are about 4" wide so everything is thrown together. I don't know how else to organize them.

I am the exact same way :rotfl:

You have described my life. And I constantly ask him if he just doesn't see the like items to put stuff in the same spots, or just doesn't care. And his response is that since you can't see it, it doesn't matter. Uh, no!!

On the silverware thing, it never occurred to me that there are people in the world who don't sort utensils. Seriously? People just throw them in a drawer? I can't even imagine that and, luckily for me, no one I know does that cause it would drive me crazy if I ate at their house and saw a drawer like that. I'd probably organize it when they weren't looking! ;)

My closets are quite often a mess, I have junk drawer, messy utensil drawer, etc. However, I've never in my life heard of someone not sorting their silverware! I thought those sorter drawers were sort of mandatory for a well used kitchen. :confused3 I can see if you lived alone, only had a few sets, and had an otherwise empty drawer to keep them in, but we probably have 20 each of our basic silverware. I can't imagine just tossing them in with everything all jumbled.

My silverware is sorted because that's how I know when I have to run the dishwasher - if we're running low on forks or spoons.

I don't face my canned goods, but I do have a neatly organized, Martha Stewart-ish linen closet. I'm picky about my linens. Not as picky as Julia Robert's deranged ex-husband in that movie, but particular nonetheless.

As for the rest of it, I keep a somewhat neat house but I do have an outside life. My stock answer to anyone who tells me their floors are so clean you could eat off them:

Well then you just enjoy your time down there with the dog. I won't stop you if that's what makes you happy. The rest of us will be up here at the table whenever you want to join us. But wash your hands first.

YES! If there is one area of the house in which I INSIST on orderliness, it's the kitchen! Just about everything in my kitchen is segregated...:lmao:
Our drinking glasses are even segregated (by type).

And the towels...yep. They have to all be folded the same way. And always kept neatly on the towel bars. I end up straightening them every time I go into the bathroom. (because the heathens that I live with have the nerve to use a towel and then leave it crooked on the towel bars! :scared1: ) Imagine the horror!! :lmao:

My silverware is segregated because it makes them easier to get to and use. My towels are folded and stacked, but I don't line up seams or sort them by color or anything. For me it's a usability issue, not a neatness issue.

Ugh, my husband is the same. He's not a clutter cleaner-upper, he's a clutter hider! And if you're looking for something, he'll swear up and down that he "never touched it" because he doesn't pay attention to what he's 'straightening up,' as long as it's out of sight, he's happy!

I just thougth that's what you did so they just get put in their own happy little slot. Anything else is willy-nilly!
