We are still holding out on putting the heat on in the house. By the end of the week I think we'll have no choice.

We had to turn our heat on last week. It got down to the mid 30's! Its supposed to be like that for the week but the highs will be in the 70's! Crazy weather!

No - I refuse to turn it on until November! The window is still open in our bedroom and we haven't shut the storm windows in the rest of the house yet. DH did wimp out and plugs in the space heater in the living room on cool mornings.

We've had it on for a few weeks now. We had some chilly nights but a few days later, I was tempted to put the air conditioner back on because it got pretty humid. Typical weather for the Chicago area. ;)

It's on, but it's set pretty low right now. Mostly just to take the chill off when it gets in the lower 40s and upper 30s at night. It doesn't come on much yet. I can't take the cold any more. I need to be in Florida.

.

Nope! We're still seeing highs in the low 80s. We still run our A/C during the day, but since it gets down into the 60s at night, we have stopped running the A/C at night.

I have it on downstairs (since Friday am) and it's run a bit in the mornings . We haven't turned it on upstairs yet. Pretty chilly in the am though!

Ours has been on for a week! We turn it off on sunny days where the sun seems to warm up the house, but we have had 1 sunny day out of 9 days so far:sad2:

I caved yesterday and turned it on.... it was 58* in my house in the AM and 43*outside.... I just couldn't get warm so I turned it on.

We won't turn our heat on until at least 11/1. Even then we only have it set to 64 or 65.

I love spending the evenings with a blanket and slippers, and sleeping in the flannel sheets. I've even been known to keep the windows open until November/December...and, yes, I had them open last night.

Holy smokes, I would freeze to death.:scared1: We have ours set at 72.

:rotfl: My parents come over to babysit in the Winter and they each bring an extra coat to wear in the house.

DW grew up in a very cold climate, and I grew up skiing, playing ice hockey, so the cold just doesn't seem to faze us at all.

Truth be told, if it wasn't for the possibility of pipes freezing and damage to our electronics, we'd probably set it even lower.

Holding out as long as possible here too. I have used the gas fireplace a few days (for about 30 minutes). We had a couple mornings that it was chilly here and I turn that on for about 30 minutes and it warms up the rooms that need to be warmed. As long as it is sunny in the afternoons our house stays pretty warm. I had to open windows yesterday because it was too warm in here. It's about 67 in here now after getting down to the upper 30's last night. It will be in the low 70's by 2:00 or so in here with the sun out. One year we made it until Thanksgiving before we had to turn on the heat-that we pretty nice.

Still waiting. I have oil being delivered today because I know we'll probably be turning it on soon though. Gotta replace the weatherstripping around the house this week as well.

Turned on the pellet stove for the first time on Friday for a few hours and again on Saturday night to bring the temp up to 75 or so which kept the inside temp above 67 overnight but when the outside temp was only in the low 40s at 8PM last night we made the decision to keep it on all night. Glad we did, the temp outside this morning at 7:30 with the sun up was only 38 and even with the stove running all night the temp inside was only 68. It's off now but the inside temp is only 67. If it gets above 70 then I won't run it again, but if the inside temp drops below 65 I'll clean it and start it up again.

We're still using the A/C, since our day time highs are still in the mid 90's. Maybe we'll switch to heat by Thanksgiving? Hope springs eternal.

No heat, no A/C. We turned off the A/C about 2 weeks ago- it gets a little warm in the afternoons, but cools off nicely overnight. When the highs are over around 72-74, I get too warm in the house. It was in the low 40's overnight, and the temp in the house this morning was 68.

We probably won't turn on the heat until 12/1 or so- we keep the thermostat set at 62, so until the house gets down below that a few mornings in a row, no heat for us.

I know quite a few neighbors and friends who turned their heat on already- but we like a really cool house. I am happiest when the temps are around 60.
