Is your Halloween costume TOO good??

Wow! Not sure I wiill ever be able to watch Nemo the same way anymore :rotfl:

This was our costume in 2008...got lots of attention from guests and CM's, particularly since they are not Disney characters...

Our funniest story was walking into the park, a father said to his family "wow, that's a good Incredible Hulk". His daughter quickly and aggravatingly replied "Daaaad! that's Shrek and Fiona, not the Hulk!". Dad was like "oh"

the only dissapointment we had was DS7 wanted to be a jedi instead of 'Donkey' and DS3 wouldn't were his 'puss n boots' costume.

Wow! I'm surprised to hear about people being asked to leave due to their Disney costumes. I understand it if they are blatantly impersonating the character though.
I had a very different experience a few years back. My husband and I went as Yzma and Kuzco. Characters were running up to us when they saw us. We walked by right after the villains were leaving the stage and I was grabbed and passed around by a few of them in a villain sort of parade as they made their way to their picture taking spots. It was a blast. My favorite memory of the night was the Walrus from Alice in Wonderland running up to me pointing at his face then his chest and then me over and over again as if to tell me 'I love you, I love you!'. What a blast.

We're still trying to decide between what to do this year taking our 12 month old... Merlin, Mim and Archimedes? Taran, Eilonwy and Henwen? Chefs and Remy from Ratatouille? John Dear, Darling and Lady? I just can't pick! (We're saving Cindy and her ugly stepsisters for when she's older and will get a kick out of her dad wearing a dress and bad makeup).

We were there in 08 and it was chilly so it was nice to have warmer stuff to were.
My mom did not really want to dress up as she did not want face paint or have to mess around with trying to get in a costume. We came up with the fairy godmother. She wore a blue graduation gown (very light weight) we added a large pink bow and she had a glow in the dark wand with a star on the end. Total cost $7.00
This year we are going in Oct/Nov and my daughter has asked grandma (she loves to sew) to make a penguin costume for DTD trick or treating.

:worship: This is FLIPPING AMAZING! Can we be best friends? :flower3:

I absolutely love Emperor's New Groove, as well as the idea of going dressed up as some of the more obscure Disney characters!

There is totally nothing wrong with wearing Disney outfits for the parties, even if you look similar to the characters. I know lots of costumers who go to the parties just to take photos in the parks with their handmade costumes. It's a great opportunity for photos and to have lots of fun!

BTW,
Yzma and Kuzco are AMAZING!

That Fairy Godmother outfit sounds adorable too :goodvibes

Last year I had a couple kids think I was Wendy, it's easy to say hello to them and tell them you're a fan of the real Wendy just like them.

Also wore Edna Mode to the first party in September. It was super fun, but a bad outfit choice since it was hot as Hades that night.

A friend of mine made a Tinkerbell costume and she fixed the "shortness" problem by making matching spanks to wear under it.

I tried so hard to find a Queen of Hearts costume last year, the only ones were sexy...um no, or one that was almost $200..needless to say i wasn't the Queen of hearts...This year i think I am going to get some fairy wings and glitter and go as a fairy

Wow- everyone has such great ideas, and FANTASTIC costumes! I love the Edna one!!!!

Well, I know I want to wear very little clothing, for the heat factor- but I have to be careful, I'm curvy and don't want to be inappropriate!!! (that Nemo costume is funny...and sort of disturbing too- and the Playboy costumes? Um, not for Disney! - though I love Playboy!!)

So maybe I'll just be a fairy, but my OWN fairy self. I won't copy any other characters, I'll just be a unique, one-of-a-kind pixie! :wizard:

We got one of these a couple of years ago.. DD and I went in matching Cone head costumes and were told by several CM's that ours was the best costumes they had seen all year. we did look pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I made the matching capes. :)

My family is going as Peter Pan characters and I'm Wendy. I looked it up and all the Wendy costumes are "Naughty Wendy". Ugh. I'm looking for a pale blue night gown at second hand store that I can create my own costume from! I'm just not "naughty" enough for those pre-made costumes!!!

I had a friend who dressed as Wendy (to match her boyfriend dressed as peter) for Homecoming weekend, they both made homemade costumes, she wore a was a sort of long blue robe that zipped in the front, proably from the local thrift store, and it worked.

Keep your eyes peeled for blue nightgowns or something like it at diffrent stores or online.

My friend who portrays Jack did dress up for MNSSHP back prior to them having a Jack in the park, and he was mobbed. He was told by cast members that he was not allowed to take pictures with guests but he was allowed to enter.

I have wanted to go down and wander around in my Anakin, but although I'm used to the heat while wearing it, Florida heat would be a bit much.

The first parties are not Jedi very friendly, but you'd probably be ok at the beginning/end of Oct ^_^ Photos in Tomorrowland would be amazing for Anakin (and a goofy one on the TTA would be pretty priceless)
Great costume btw, are you part of RL or 501st by chance?

A couple of years ago we saw a group of 3 or 4 mid 20's and they all had on TOT robes and houseshoes. The robes looked just like the ones you get in the store at the exit of the ride. They looked awsome and very comfortable !! Wished we had taken a picture of them.

I am in the same boat I want little clothing without being innappropriate and it can be difficult lol. I find them cute and with the heat I can't imagine something heavy.

OMG- That is AWESOME!!!

If you don't mond me asking... did you build that costume yourself? and , how much time did you put into it? Cause to be honest, that is quite epic, if I saw you walking around in that at MNSSHP, I'd geek out haha

I've never been to the MNSSHP so I'm not sure but I'm guessing that there is still meet and greets going on so say you're dressed up as cinderella and you look like the real deal, then when some kid is meeting with the real cinderella and he/she sees you walk by, the kid could get pretty confused. This could be one reason why they don't want people dressing up as Disney characters too well. Also they probably don't want you saying that you're a Disney employee then doing some unspeakable thing that gets Disney into trouble.
