Is WL worth an extra 100 a night?

Our budget fits either a moderate or WL is it worth the x-tra money to stay at WL?

It was for us because it was for 2 rooms and I recieved an unexpected check in the mail that made the decision a lot easier...

It depends on what you plan to do. I love the WL. We have gone on their tours and eaten there, but not had a chance to stay there (DVC members -- it was not available when we tried to get it.)

There is so much to do there -- including being able to walk or bike (they have rentals) to Fort Wilderness (Hoop Dee Doo Review etc.!) -- that if you did not have time to enjoy it, maybe it would be worth just a visit instead of staying there.

If your plan calls to be at the theme parks etc. during your entire stay, I mean, vs. having some time to relax at the pool etc., then maybe it's not worth the extra $ to stay someplace you'll just be rushing away from every day. You can still go eat there and/or take a tour.

I told DH if we had kids (who magically didn't know we were at WDW in this scenario), I could see having a fantastic vacation just at the WL without ever even going to the parks. That's how much there is to do there and how nice it is :)

Of course, when you do go to the parks, the boat from the WL is *very* nice and convenient :)

If you budget fits the WL and you are planning on spending alot of time at the MK then I would say go for the WL and do not look back.

Having stayed at both WL & CSR, I'd save the money & stay at CSR hands down. Amenities are about equal, if not tipped slightly on the side of CSR. I had the worst CM experiences ever at WL on a couple different occasions (some while staying there, some after dining there)
I thought I'd love WL & it turns out to be the one resort I will not stay at again. I thought I'd be disappointed in the moderate (after satying at the deluxe resorts so much) & it turns out to be one of my favorites......

It is so interesting how different people have such different experiances. We just returned May 31st from our first stay at CSR and our first stay at a moderate since 1997 and even though we found CSR to be beautiful and the CMs very nice we would not return to a moderate or below unless our financial situation was such that it meant we could not go to WDW unless we did not stay at a deluxe.

We found the double beds that are in the moderates and values compared to the queen beds at the deluxes to be a big issue. We did not think that they would be as we are not big people but it was horrible trying sleep in the beds at CSR. We sleep in a queen at home.

Oh well, That is what is great about Disney something for everyone.

I thought we'd love WL. We didn't. We actually left after the first night. The boat transportation to MK was horrible. We waited for 3 boats until we finally got on. I think it's deceiving that it's called an MK resort because I've had quicker transport times by bus from CSR and CBR. If I had a choice between WL and a moderate again, I'd save the $$ and stay at a mod. We really enjoyed CSR and CBR.

Many people love WL. I'm just giving you my own perspective. This board is all about our varied opinions!!! Good luck!!!

I had a similar situation this May. We were going to stay at the POR and last minute decided to splurge for the WL. I'm glad we did, as a previous poster said, you can't beat a queen bed versus a double. If you have kids, the bunk beds are so much fun for them. I had no trouble with the transportation, the boats were great. I was happy to spend the extra money. I have stayed at the CSR before and it is beautiful. However, it is very spread out and was a long walk to the Pepper Market after a day at the parks. It is a convention center and it kinda felt that way to me. Sometimes you'd be all alone in a hallway or wlakway, felt deserted to me. I think you should try the WL while money isn't an issue.

You made the right decision you will love the Wilderness Lodge

Have a great trip...:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I realize you've already made your decision, but I just want to second that I believe you've made the right decision. WL is a very cozy resort, not to mention stunning. You will find lots of things to do there. We enjoyed the boat ride to MK -- never had any problems. Have fun!

I agree with Tiffany. We LOVE WL and have never had a bad CM experience or any bad experience at any WDW hotel, especially WL. IMO, you simply cannot compare any moderate with the Lodge. I am sure Magic in my heart will back me on this one...
You've made the right decision, don't even look back!

I agree with Tiffany and Loretta - we've stayed at moderates, but nothing compares to WL. Never had any problem with boat to MK either. Have a great time!!:wave2:
