Is WL gloomy?

Ive never thought of WL as gloomy, however I do think AKL is very gloomy.

Isn't that funny, but we feel the exact opposite. We stayed at AKL in December 2006 and thought it was WONDERFUL and during our visit to WL we were very disappointed. We thought the decorations were much nicer at AKL

But to each his own!

It has lots of dark wood & earthy colors, we find it very relaxing after a long day

we do tease each other about the long hallways in the Villas, reminds us of the one in The Shining

Not at all! It's wonderful - inviting and cozy. It's our favorite resort - we just can't stop going back!

the lobby is very nice and grand but the rooms are gloomy. brown and drab. i really didn't care for the decor but the resort itself other than the rooms is very nice. i found the bc very bright and cheerful, with lots of new england feel.

My house is surrounded by woods and nature. Although the Wilderness Lodge is amazing, to me it reminded me of sitting on my deck at home. I don't want to feel like I'm at home when I'm on vacation. With that said it is not dark and gloomy. I am going to put a dancing banana in here just because it makes me laugh

Yes, cozy, very warm and inviting. Have never been there at the holidays but I suspect the decoration will only make the hotel more spectacular. It's a large hotel but has a very intimate feel to it.

My spouse and I both find Wilderness Lodge to be dark and somewhat depressing. But friends of ours find it warm and cozy, so I really think that it is just individual preferences.

We prefer the lighter colors and the more open and airy type of resorts such as the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Saratoga Springs and Old Key West. While our friends find those resorts to be harsh colors, noisy and too hot looking.

It's a good thing Disney has different resorts for all the different preferences.

I think the lobby is amazing the first time you see it, BUT I do agree that the rooms are dark (at least ours was) - never seemed to be able to get enough light in them even with the curtains open. It is not my favorite resort, but I wouldn't describe it as gloomy.

WL is one of my favorite resorts & don't think it is gloomy. But each to their own of what they think of any resorts. My brother who lives in Co said when I sent him a picture of the WL he said it reminded him of the lodges they have out there. But I been to some hotels up in Maine that was horribble dark & gloomy. Oh well go with your gut feeling. But at Christmas time WL wins hands down in my book.

WL is a lot of things, gloomy is not one of them. It's a great place, you won't be dissapointed, well unless you already live in a log cabin.

Gloomy....not at all...

WL is one of my families favorite resort hotels. I had the pleasure of staying there in 1994 when the lodge first opened and I fell in love with it. I will attach some of my photos and a link to another Dis'er video from just the other day that was super!! Hope this helps...

If you are looking for something different from your day to day why not try on of the beachier resorts? I personaly love looking at the pictures of WL, I think it looks like a beautiful resort. If we could affrord to stay deluxe this is one of my top choices!
