I have a Afternoon Tea booked but see now that the dessert party has been extended past Aug. IS it worth the money and would you cancel tea to try the dessert party?

for us it was worth it. we have two small kids and did this in april, thanks to my dis friends who alerted me that this was on again. i found it to be perfect for the sole reason the kids could actually see the fireworks unobstructed. we watched in october with several older late comers who just crammed in front of us for spectro and wishes. and while yes i realize it's up in the air, breathing room/moving room is nice!

the desserts were wonderful, tarts, mango shooters, cookies, mousse, you name it. plentiful and filling. i'd die to have one rite now! lol it was very uncrowded and we got a centre table, and tink flew rite over our heads. there is also a photopass photog there to take pics of your party in front of the lit up castle. if it's offered in febraruy, we've already decided we will re-book it.

In my opinion it is.. I went during MNSSHP and it was awsome. The deserts were great and they kept things cleaned and filled. There is a photopass person there to take pics and I found that there were some of the best photos of the entire trip. Plus we were able to see the fireworks with a wonderful view without having people crowding you.. I am going to be booking it for my 30th birthday during MVMCP and I can't wait..

one word...NO. it is soooo not worth it. There are many reviews of it both ways, but here is a quick little review of my families experience. It is outside, though the deserts are kept cool you are not. it is HOT. who can really enjoy the food and eat a lot when the weather is not comfortable. the deserts are only so-so. they are the same mini desserts that you find at all of the buffets. We did it when the price was 17.99 a person and left saying that it was not worth half of what we paid. Now the price is the same for a dinner buffet. You might as well book a good dinner buffet and get dinner plus dessert for the same price. Also it is non refundable and isnt canceled even if the weather is bad and the parade and fireworks are canceled. the day we went there was bad heat lightening so the parade did not go. The tables are REALLY close together so i hope you like to talk to new ppl because you CANNOT have a conversation without them practically participating cause the tables are almost pushed together.

The tea on the other hand is sooo enjoyable. The food and the tea are always excellent. the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing, especially on a hot afternoon. the service is excellent and although a bit pricey, absolutely worth it for a vacation splurge. I cant say enough bad things about the dessert party and good things about the tea

I have not done the dessert party (I have no desire to) but just reading about it I would not cancel the tea for it (I have done the tea a few times.)

What is "The Tea"?

Nevermind, I think I know. But just to clarify, The Tea is an afternoon tea party? right? So there is no Tea and Fireworks party? right?

Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Lounge in the Grand Floridian. There are no fireworks (they wouldn't be very visible in the afternoon).

I posted in another thread that I did not think it was worth it. You cannot see the parade - which I knew beforehand. The desserts were so so...standard buffet fare. The drinks were lemonade, water, and coffee. There might have been iced tea too but I don't remember for sure. No soda and I love my soda. It is also right near the smoking area and the wind was blowing just right the night I was there and I could really smell it. As another poster said, the tables were jammed together. So much so that I couldn't get out to get anything. My husband had to squeeze out the other side to get the items. I tried it once but I will not again. I am actually trying the tea for the first time this year and have always heard great things about it. Good luck with your decision.

When we go in November, DD & I are having tea in the afternoon & doing the Dessert Party later that evening. Sounds perfect since it will be a nice light meal & then we can enjoy a LOT of desserts later. I booked the Dessert Party last January, begrudgingly because we use to watch Wishes free from that area, but I decided to give it a chance & we were so glad we did. We had an unobstructed view of the fireworks, without people pushing through to see at the last minute, like so often happens to us. We all thought the desserts were excellent, the CMs on duty were wonderful, we loved having our reserved table covered in pixie dust & we never felt that people were too close to us. In fact, like I said previously we are so used to having people pushing us around at the last minute at parades & fireworks, it was so nice to have a reserved area that we didn't think was too crowded at all. It was the number one request from my DH, DD & DS so I was very glad they extended it. :cool1:

I did it last year and it was around $23. I called to make a reservation for this October, and it was almost $28. I was happy with it at $23, but for some reason the $28 must have hit my invisible limit. I am glad that I did it one time, and if you have a sweet tooth, you will not be disappointed. If desserts really aren't your thing, then it's probably not for you.

I will say that I probably ate at least $20 worth of chocolate covered strawberries. :lovestruc

We did the Wishes Dessert Party in May and really enjoyed it. The desserts were fantastic and the view of the fireworks display could not be beat. Don't blink....Tinkerbell flies right over you as she descends from the castle!!
(Pics of dessert tables and fireworks at Trip Report link below)

We did it last year and I thought it was nice, but not something I would want to do again. The best part was seeing Tinkerbell fly right over us.

However, when we asked the kids what were some of the things they definitely wanted to do on this trip the Wishes Dessert Buffet was number 1 on dd's list. So we are booked again for the Dessert Party in August!

I just did it Wednesday. We didn't eat much, in fact one of my kids didn't eat a thing. I have 4 kids so it was pricey- about $140. That being said I liked having the private area where a crowd couldn't gather. And when it was over we were lead out a different way and managed to make it on a bus immediately and where in bed within the hour, which was nice.
