Does anyone know if the Walk Away the Pounds is accurate when she says, "Okay, you've just walked a mile!"

I am much sweatier and feel it more when I walk a mile on the treadmill. I was just wondering if her mile is accurate.

Are you doing the WATP to the fullest intensity? Are you really picking up your feet and pumping your arms? How quickly do you walk a mile on the TM? I know that most of the WATP videos, the workouts is supposed to be a 15 minute mile. I can do a mile much quicker on the TM, but I like the different steps involved with the WATP.

I guess the best way to figure this out is to count your steps in a mile on the TM and then count your steps (or beats) when you do a mile in the WATP video.

Just wondering why you are asking? Are you trying to log your miles? I guess I have always taken Leslie's word for it and believed her when she said I did a mile!! :lmao:

FWIW.... if you like doing the WATP and don't feel that they are a good enough workout, add some weights. I have been doing them wearing 5 lb ankle weights and a four pound weight belt, plus occasionally 1 lb wrist weights. When they use the "Walk Away Weighted Balls" I use 3 lb hand weights. The weighted balls are only about 1.5 lb each. Wearing all of these weights and really making sure I am doing each move to its fullest, I am really sweating and breathing heavy for most of her workouts. Just be careful of your legs/knees if you workout wearing ankle weights... I don't think that they are really recommended for kicking and such. HTH.......P

I am also curious about this. I've just started these DVDs and I love them! But when she says that I'm walking a 15 minute mile, I have to wonder because I can't do that consistently on the TM.

I have been doing WATP for years and I love it. I trust Leslie and believe what she says. Whether it makes sense or not, to me it is much easier to walk in place, then walk on a treadmill or even outside. I can't walk fast enough and it is very uncomfortable to me (I think my legs are too short :confused3). I lost over 70 pounds doing WATP - I started with the one mile and am up to the 5 mile - I do various DVD's throughout the week. I always move my arms (even if Leslie doesn't) - that helps to get the heart rate up. You can also add weights as previously mentioned and a aerobic step also works well.

Checkout her new DVDs on QVC - they look awesome!!
