Is Typhoon Lagoon Worth It?

I will be traveling to Orlando from California this summer. We have water parks here in California, so the concept isn't unfamiliar to me. Based on the information I have read, I have pretty much experienced attractions very similar to those at the Disney World water parks, with the exception of 1. The Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon sounds intriguing, but I read that you do not have unlimited time to explore this attraction. I only have a few days for my Disney World vacation, and I don't want to waste time at a water park that is replicated here in California. Is the Shark Reef in Typhoon Lagoon worth the price of admission in itself? Thanks in advance for your responses.

It really doesn't give you anything that you wouldn't see snorkeling in any real tropical reef, plus it only lasts a couple of minutes or so. I do think Typhoon Lagoon is well worth visiting, but if you are pressed for time, you might want to skip it for now.

I would skip it. When we went last it was 10/11 of 04 and bb was closed so we went to tl. I wasn't impressed. Our next trip is this 11/12 and if bb is closed again we will skip the water park option since I'm not interested in doing tl again. I know others love it and my 12yo liked the wave pool but I didn't reallly love shark reef. My local water parks are more impressive then tl in my opinion.

The shark reef is cool, but I wouldn't make a special trip to Typhoon Lagoon just to do the shark reef, unless you have never been snorkeling before. The tank is not that big, and your time in the tank is limited.

Having said that, we love the waterparks. They are a relaxing break from the parks, and our whole family has a great time. After a day at the waterparks, we're always revived and ready to hit the "land" parks again. I've been to other waterparks, but none that compare w/ the Disney waterparks. (Coming from California, you may have been to some really great waterparks that are as nice as the Disney waterparks).

We think the water parks are nice but I wouldn't miss out on anything else just to go to them. We go when we have extra time that we don't really care about.

I agree, the sharks alone are not worth the trip. Save that park for another trip when you have more time.

But as the above poster stated, we tried this plan last year and what a difference it made for refreshing us for other days in the parks. And that is our plan for next trip in Sept.
