I was thinking that you are allowed to do either 1 tier-1 ride and 2 teir-2 rides OR just 3 tier-2 rides. Have you tried to practice by looking at the coming month and seeing if you can get 3 tier-2 FPs? Might be worth a try.
I'll check that out. If that's the case, that's super helpful.
Parks With FP Tiering
In Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, FP attractions are divided into two groups, also known as tiers. Guests are able to make up to one selection from Group 1, and up to two selections from Group 2. Alternatively, guests can also make all three selections from Group 2 if desired.
Do you have hoppers? I'd plan to park hop if you don't get a soft open.Ugh...I have planned a day for Hollywood Studios on our arrival day May 18th. I am bummed that another attraction will not be available.
Maybe just maybe the Pixie Dust fairy will grant a soft opening that weekend of Toy Story Land.![]()
Against all the conventional wisdom, we had targeted DHS for our one/only park day in April. We have an interest in Star Wars and all the various shows in general. But down to three rides, when I’m not even a thrill ride person? Maybe not.
I am really disappointed by this. I try not to complain about closures-I know it has to happen. And I still felt HS worth it with the current conditions. However, to close this ride, while so much else is closed, and still pay full price for a ticket, and have no even temporary additions of entertainment, seems really lame. I want to eat at Sci-Fi, and see Fantasmic, and would enjoy seeing other shows we missed last time like BATB and LM, but with no rides my kids can ride, it feels like a letdown.
No, you're right, we don't know yet. But I mentioned the possibility to the kids. It would affect their park choice- looks like MK is our contingency plan.Do we know it will be closed in April yet? I was thinking we didn't have dates for the full closure...we are going in April and I am hoping that it's open surrounding the RunDisney Star Wars weekend, I expect a lot of folks to visit DHS that week/weekend.
The story states the third track will be closed first, meaning tracks one and two (original) will still operate for some amount of time. The way I read it is, once the work is complete on the third track, the first two tracks will go down, but the third track will be open. Then at some point it will close completely before TSL opens. Unless I'm interpreting that wrong, you ought to be ok for next month. It's late April/May that I'd be concerned about personally.
Pool day in the morning. Head to DHS early afternoon. Do the couple of things you want, and maybe some of the things you don't want (I personally still adore MV3D). Have dinner. Go see F! (and/or the Star Wars fireworks). This way you get a little relaxation and still don't skip the park.
Ugh, same here. Planning to be there May 3-8. We will still go HS regardless because we do like ToT and RnRC but sheesh!
This is our plan exactly. We are doing an eve at AK on arrival day to see Pandora at night, then sleeping in and doing pool on May 4th (May the fourth be with you) and heading into HS around 3:30-4pm. We have not seen the Star Wars fireworks show and DS and DH are Star Wars fans so we'll be going no matter what is or isn't open... sigh.
We always get hoppers even if we don't hop every day, really like the flexibility. Some times the four of us split up and two go to the pool and two go to a park.
Toy Story Mania will be standby only from April 9th to early May. It will be operating with one track only.Has anyone heard any updates on this? Thinking about an early May trip and am really curious as this is one of our favorites.
So this is their option vs. total closure?Toy Story Mania will be standby only from April 9th to early May. It will be operating with one track only.
They probably realize that DHS isn’t great with the number of attraction it has and they are trying to keep as much open as possible. So this is their option vs. total closure?
I'm not sure what would be worse, close it totally and work fast to get more tracks operational and keep it open and try to limp by with 1 track and take longer to do it
We don't really ride TSMM much so it won't matter to me one way or another but I'm not sure I want to see the line back there with just 1 track open. I know not having FP will keep it moving but I don't see it being faster. I rode once during EMH and that line was not pretty. That was with 3 tracks. They probably realize that DHS isn’t great with the number of attraction it has and they are trying to keep as much open as possible.
