Is TSMM closing in May?

I'm planning an early May trip. I read a passing comment somewhere that when Toy Story Land opens, TSMM entrance will be inside Toy Story Land. Does this mean TSMM will be closing for Refurb in May you think? If so I will be so sad. We don't go to Disney often, and Great movie ride, Star Wars, and TSMM are the only rides my non-thrill seeker kids will do at HS. I don't want to skip HS, but with GMR gone, if TSMM is also closed I'm not sure what I should do. Has anyone heard anything about if/when the ride will be closing in preparation for Toy Story Land opening?

If it IS closed, any opinions on what my family should do? I HATE to skip a park, but we do NOT have hoppers, and only 5 day tickets, so I'm wondering if our time would be better spent on a second Epcot day, or another day in MK.

I would think if it does close it will be brief and also earlier than May.

BUT if it is closed during your stay I would probably skip the park if no one liked Star Wars/TOT/RNR

Yep. This makes me nervous that we are going to be there close enough to the Toy Story Land opening that the full closure will be on and it won't open back up until Toy Story Land opens. Ugh. That's SUPER disappointing.

I'm in early May as well, and it was the ONLY thing I was looking forward to at HS (we've always missed FPs for it and we didn't have time to wait on standby)

Hopefully it will still be open...

I DO want to see Fantasmic. I've never seen it. So maybe we SHOULD still go. Ugh. Blah.

Does anyone have any ideas how long the full closure is likely to need to be? Are we fairly safe that it will still be operating in some from next month?

Are fastpasses available? I can only see until February 2nd, they are available.

The story states the third track will be closed first, meaning tracks one and two (original) will still operate for some amount of time. The way I read it is, once the work is complete on the third track, the first two tracks will go down, but the third track will be open. Then at some point it will close completely before TSL opens. Unless I'm interpreting that wrong, you ought to be ok for next month. It's late April/May that I'd be concerned about personally.

Yes I have fastpasses booked and they are definitely available until late February

Thank you, I interpreted it the same but wasn't sure now quickly they'd move through the three stages

Pool day in the morning. Head to DHS early afternoon. Do the couple of things you want, and maybe some of the things you don't want (I personally still adore MV3D). Have dinner. Go see F! (and/or the Star Wars fireworks). This way you get a little relaxation and still don't skip the park.

Wow - so only 4 rides to start with, and now close and/or greatly reduce the capacity of one of those four rides in the mean time.

It is one of our favorite rides, but at least we were able to do it multiple times at DL last trip, because it seems that we aren't likely to be able to do it in April (either because it is closed, or fast passes won't be available or the line will be too bloody long).

Ugh...I have planned a day for Hollywood Studios on our arrival day May 18th. I am bummed that another attraction will not be available.:sad1:

Maybe just maybe the Pixie Dust fairy will grant a soft opening that weekend of Toy Story Land. pixiedust:

This is actually going to mess with our FP plans, because this is the only Tier 1 attraction we were going to ride. (We're not thrill ride people, and DD is too short for anything else.) If the ride isn't available, we'll have to book a throwaway FP for another Tier 1 attraction if we want to get fourth FP for the other Tier 2 attractions we want to see, right?

Boy, that is interesting. I'm so glad we got a FP for this for our trip in a few weeks. Especially if the original two tracks will actually be closed "in a few weeks" like the article states! Does that mean only 1 out of 3 tracks would be open at that point? It didn't specifically say the third track would be open, but did imply that. Man, that's going to make the stand by waits crazy for that ride.

I was thinking that too, assuming they have allowed the usual number of fast passes to be booked based on 3 track capacity, if it runs on just 1 track surely fastpasses alone will need most of the capacity.
It's the only ride in HS with no height restrictions too so a big loss to younger families if it closes for a few weeks

You can just do tier 2 FP's without using any tier 1 and be able to add 4th+.
