Considering the idea of going for 3 weeks - basing ourselves in Anaheim (depending on whether work committments will allow) - we are taking second week to the end of July next year.

We are planning on doing the major theme parks, the beach and exploring the LA tourist areas. We also want to (for a change) to allow some down time and spending time around the hotel pool.

Would you go for this long, if you could?

Without question we would do three weeks in Anaheim.

As a child my family would spend the entire month of July in Anaheim and as an adult our trips are generally two weeks in July.

Hmmmm. It does sound like a long time. It depends on how many days you want at the beach and how much you want to do.

There is no doubt there is enough to fill up three weeks. Aside from theme parks and the beach there are some national parks. I have not been everywhere but I have been to a lot of places and I have never seen a more beautiful place than Yosemite National Park. It is maybe 6 hours from Anaheim by car. You could go up there a couple days. Most people who do that also visit nearby Sequoia National Park with the largest trees in the world. Then there is the California coast up through Big Sur and Monterey. California is a beautiful state and sticking around Anaheim for three weeks will limit you.

South of Anaheim about 80 miles is beautiful San Diego as well. If you want to branch out and really see California then three weeks is not enough.

So in answer to your question if you spend most of your time at theme parks and the beach then three weeks sounds like a lot to me. But if you branch out more then you can easily fill up three weeks. My two cents. :goodvibes

I don't think 3 weeks is too long. You could always fill it up by sightseeing or traveling across the state to the places cited above or...how about a side trip to Vegas for a few days? It's only 4.5 hours by car...Just a thought...:goodvibes

At a minimum I would consider spending a few nights in San diego, and a few nights in Santa Barbara.......easy drives in opposite directions.

We were in California for 19 days in June, but we also spent 3 days in vegas out of the 19. The days went by so fast and we didn't get to do everything we wanted. So in my opinion, 3 weeks isn't too long. There is so much to do and see and include down time. You can always instead of basing yourself in one location, spread it out to different areas depending on what you want to do. We spent about 5 days in a beach house in Capo too which was really fun and our days in Anaheim (which of course was the most fun of all!!!)

You will have a wonderful vacation!

I probably would move my home base around a bit, not just *stay* in Anaheim, but 3 weeks in so cal could easily be filled.

Three weeks is way too long to be based in Anaheim. Split your stay between Los Angeles, Anaheim and San Diego. That way you have three "base camps" to explore the three major regions.

There is so much to do in California, you'll easily be able to fill the time there. Like others have mentioned, think about splitting up some time in San Diego, etc.

It depends on what you like to do, we will be there a few days short of 2 weeks and have been before for shorter periods. The luxury of this is that we have been able to get an idea of where things are and the sort of time we will spend at the parks etc.

We like to shop so we have a few days allocated for the Grove and farmers market in LA, Southcoast Plaza and Desert Hills outlet mall. We have a day at Universal, a day in Hollwood/LA doing our own thing, probably 4 days or so in the parks, probably a day trip to Seaworld San Diego.

There's around 10 days there. After a couple of days downtime we are pretty much done.

I could think of lot's of other things like heading down to Santa Monica or Venice beach, head into beverley hiils for a look around and like others suggested you could easily head out further for a day or two and see some parks etc.

Again it depends on what activities you like to do. There is a lot to do, it's just getting around since Anaheim is a fair distance from most things but with transfers, buses and if you have a car should be no problem.

If we had another week there we could easily find things to fill it up if we wanted.

I suggest to get onlien and see what tours and places are around and use this is a guide of things to do.

Would I? No I live in No Ca but pretending I didn't, I guess I would if I had the vacation time. There is so much to do plus with that much time, you could venture up to SF bay area and see some of No Ca too.

There is lots to see in southern California. 10 days in Anaheim is my limit LOL

If you are going to have a car available I would definitely suggest driving down to spend at least one week in San Diego. Lots to see and do there and it's beautiful!
