Hi - sorry to barge in with a question for my first post, but I have a client who wants me to book them at FW (tent site) so they can get the meal plan. BUT - they are staying off site in a home. They are traveling in early May and I need to make the reservation for them ASAP if it's not against policy.

I have mixed feelings on it. They won't be using the campsite, but then they ARE still paying full price for it. So it's not like Disney is out any money. But they would be taking a site out of inventory that someone else might be able to use.

I don't want to call Disney and ask because we have to enter an identifying code (identifies the travel agency to Disney) and don't want to cause any problems for my boss if it's against the rules. (I don't know if they log calls like that...)

Thanks in advance for your opinions,

Cara

Well, while it may not be against the rules, most here (including me) will tell you that it is wrong. If you're talking about the free dining plan at the end of August, it isn't being offered to people at the campsites, you have to be in a room.

Cara,

Since mine is the second reply, this topic has been a lively one on this board in the recent past. Some folks have very strong feelings both ways so I am letting you know up front. :rolleyes1

That being said, I am not in favor of doing what you were asked to do. That request comes from the school of thought, " I can do this so I will and too bad if someone else can't get in because of me". I feel sorry for those kind of people.

Since you are in business you will need to let your conscience be your guide.

Good luck!

They are going in May - not on the free dining plan

I didn't know this was a really hot topic. Thanks for the warning.

And please don't attack me. I'm asking about clients who want to do this. I have to have valid reasons to deny their request. Please share!

Thanks again!

There are no valid reasons to deny your client this. As long as they are paying for it, they can do what they want with it. Is it ethically wrong? That has been the debate on the boards lately. Personally, I don't care what other people do with their site. People complain that it takes sites out of inventory, but I have never had a problem getting a site and I go during busy periods. Disney doesn't have a rule against it so that leaves you no choice but to book it for them. Personally, I think it is a waste of money, but it's their money they can do what they want with it.

RescueRanger is correct. There is no Disney policy against this. But, you may want to let them know that if they do this, they are taking a site away from somebody who would like to camp during those dates, and who may not be able to because FW is filled up.

Since the OPs question is answered, I am going to lock this thread before it becomes a debate. This topic has been covered extensively before, in case you would like to do a search.

Have a good weekend everyone! :)
