I was thinking about this again last night.. He was still on the morphine pump when he made the call to the surgeons office.. Then by the time I talked to him, he was on the oxycodone.. (Which I know can make people not think too clearly..) Maybe what he meant was that he called the surgeons office to get something less strong than the morphine pump (being the oxy) and he thought they could call it in to the pharmacy, but actually had to go there to pick up the script..
That would make a lot more sense - and considering I had just told him our cousin had died at 2 p.m., his thinking may have been muddled..
Whatever the case may be, it sounds like Florida is having quite an issue with pain meds.. Is it really that much worse than other states? I just can't wrap my head around why they aren't able to shut down these phoney pain clinics faster..
For all these drug addicts know, they may be getting meds from another country that aren't even safe!
Well, first of all, my condolences for your cousin.
"Oxy" whether Oxycintin or Oxycondone is very strictly controlled here in MA. It is honestly the drug of choice to be abused so is under very strict controls.
Eh, the Assisted Living we Therapy Dog volunteer at had a late night break in last year. scared1: The police thought the perps were looking for Oxy, but all was Ok and the thieves did not manage to break into the drug cabinet. There was another break-in at another NF that did not turn out so well
Yep, residents at the Assisted Living cannot keep Oxy in their rooms and are not supposed to disclose to ANYONE that they take it. But, of course, some of them do . . .
Making your brother pick it up in person at the pharmacy does not seem out of line for the first scrip. After the first scrip is filled, the pharmacists here seem to ease off. Not sure whether they "should" but it does make things easier for caregivers when they do ease up for known customers.
Hope your brother heals fast and with no complications.
