I've read online these things and i am wondering if anyone knows if they are accurate or not. If you have actually done any of them please share your experience and how you actually went about it. Also if you have any other "hidden gem" type things around disneyland feel free to share.
- Ask for a "death certificate" from the haunted mansion?
- Ask for a "free map" when you get off the jungle cruise?
Also what is the protocall for asking to ride the LillyBelle????? Thanks for all your help.

From what I can tell, this one has been discontinued. I've asked a few times and the CMs have either had no idea of what I am talking about or said they no longer have them.

I have done this one, but the last CM I spoke to said, they were almost out. I don't know if that meant at that moment or for the future.

Also what is the protocall for asking to ride the LillyBelle?

As far as I know, they have discontinued the rides in the Lilly Belle for the general public. I think Club 33 members might still be able to ride in the Lilly Belle.

1. False. Although there is a website where someone has made some. According to my roomie (and Haunted Mansion maid) years ago they had something they gave scared children mostly, but she doesn't ever recall anything official.

2. To the extent of my knowledge these still exist when you ask for it, provided they haven't run out before getting more.

3. You used to be able to ask at City Hall or even at the Main Street Station, but they have 'discontinued' doing this for day guests although for certain magical moments who knows how it happens. My aunt managed to for her birthday earlier this month.

The first two have been covered well, but as for #3, the Lilly Belle is still available, well sometimes.

Bottom line is there are days where it isn't running and there are days (yes entire days) where it's reserved for Club 33 members.

That being said, there are a very limited number of spaces that are available to the general public and you must speak with the conductor at the Main Street train station. For those that are in wheelchairs and can transfer at another station, they are able to provide accommodations, but a member of your party will still need to speak with a main street station conductor. I do not know what they would do if you are by yourself in a wheelchair though.

As I said, these spaces are very limited and are usually gone within the first 30 minutes after park opening. The remainder are reserved for extra magic, club 33 members, etc. which may explain why it seems like it is only available to club 33 members.

Now for an item to add to your list:
Ask to steer the Mark Twain, you get a certificate (unless they run out) as well.

In April of last year.. while waiting inline we asked the cast member for a map..
He asked us a triva q, before giving it to us.. so be prepared.... lol

There's a website called doombuggies.com where you can download and print a free death certificate. You can do that before you go to the park and then give it to your littles after they ride. I did this with my granddaughter and she loved it. HM is her favorite ride.

2.Yes - They sometimes run out, but check back later in the day. They often 'run to make copies'.
3.Yes - Ask early in the day. They aren't allowing passengers as much as they used to, and will not have passengers when it becomes too hot, it gets hot and stuffy inside.

You should add to your list, Ride in the wheelhouse of the Mark Twain. They sometimes give out certificates there too.

It is a map of the Jungle Cruise. Pretty nice quality, too! They had them 1 of the days we were there in April, but not one of the other days. My DS8 thought it was so cool that we knew a secret!

My parents rode on the Lilly Belle when they were very recently in the park. I think it's just a matter of luck and knowing to ask. If it happens to be hooked up that day, ask a cast member. You might have to wait, but it's worth it. You also get special souvenir tickets if you do get to ride.

Anyone know if they still allow people to ride in the tender of the train? My daughter and I were VERY lucky and got to ride in the Lilly Belle last Oct. (went to the Main St station first thing at Rope Drop. There was a cast member there with a clip board, they took 11 names and that was it for the day) and we LOVED it. We had also wanted to ask about the tender but we didn't have time in our schedule...sadly.

The Mark Twain pilot's licence is nice - have one from when daughter was 2 (13 years ago).

So, do they do this type of stuff at DCA? I know that there is the newspaper and Animation Academy (a favorite for us). Are there any other 'hidden gems'?

You have to ask for them? I'm surprised they don't have someone handing them out like they do at the Ghirardelli shop at DTD, Orlando. We haven't been to DLR since before the ghirardelli shop opened there, but are looking into a trip for the near future. I'll have to remember to ask for one.

If the lily belle is unavailable, you can ask to ride on the tender car. There are a few things to note though...you can only board and exit at the Main Street station, they won't let you ride if they will be doing a water fill or a blow down at New Orleans Station, and it only has room for two people, one if you are somewhat Pooh-sized. It's a great chance to talk to the engineers and see how the train works. I recommend it.
