Help!:scared1:

Just talked with a cast member over the phone and they said crowds would be terrible during our visit to DL on 09/26 (Sunday). Is this true? Or is she just programmed to say that?

I'm really sweatin it now:headache: - as I am not partial to crowds sometimes - I tend to get overwhelmed.

Anyone????

I don't know if the CM's are programmed to say that the crowds will be terrible. If anything, I would think they would avoid saying anything that ominous because they want to maintain the upbeat, happy Disney image and encourage visitors to come. You might get them to be honest here and there and tell you if it is expected to be a busy weekend based on upcoming events or previous years' crowds. But I would expect them to water down their predictions quite a bit.

Did this CM have any insight as to why the crowds would be terrible on 9/26? I mean, yes, it will be HalloweenTime then, but late September is usually better than October in terms of crowds.

Hmmm...I wonder if there is a particular convention in town that weekend? Is there any special event happening that's out of the ordinary (not the Halloween party, that's for sure)?

THat is the weekend for the Destination D event. I don't know how it will effect the crowds, but I imagine there will be more that normal people in the park due to it.

She seemed rather on the negative side and didn't give a reason. There are two conventions going on @ the center on 09/25. Maybe she meant that? :confused3

Really?! Wow than she is right....I think...thankx

I had a rather rude cast member this morning too, while I was trying to make a meal reservation. Just very snotty when ever I asked a question.

I was just a little disappointed because I thought Disney was supposed to be the exception in that. When ever I go to the Disney Store, everyone that works there is ALWAYS smiling, and I thought that it was simply a Disney rule.

Okay, so that sounds right then. If not for the Destination D event, it would probably be a more manageable weekend in terms of crowds. Any time there is a convention or conference of some sort, things get busier - and the hotels book up. So, perhaps, based on the number of hotel bookings so far, the CM's can tell that there will be tons of people there.

Add in the SoCal AP's being unblocked to the mix (as DisneyMomma81 just said), and yes, it could be mega-crowded that day!

It is always startling when you encounter a CM who seems to be having a bad day or is just not that friendly - because the majority of them are sooooo friendly. Some of them love to talk with guests - on the phone or in person - and you can tell how much they love their jobs. Every now and then I run into one who seems un-Disneylike. Not horrible people, but just more 'real world-like' than Disney-like, if that makes any sense!

I know what you mean. :)

It's not like I haven't dealt with rude people before (I worked at McDonald's for 5 years!). It was just a little surprising coming from Disney. Oh well, like you pointed out, maybe she was having a bad day. I am a receptionist and answer phones all day, and if I am having a bad day, I do my best to no let people know it!

I just think that you are a sweetie and there should be more like you.

It doesn't really bother me....this time...lol:cool1:

Why thank you! Same to you.

Maybe Disney should start looking in these Disboards for CM's cause we know what should be expected of us and what we would like when it comes to planning up coming events and holidays! :)

That weekend will definitely be busier because of the D23 event, but I doubt it will be horrible. It's a smaller event than the Expo that happened on my trip last September and those crowds were very, very manageable and only got towards to bad end in the evening. But Saturday (the 26th) is the day of the scavenger hunt, so I can imagine that would make things a little interesting as particpants are scouring all over the resort.

:rotfl: I am picturing a line of cast members with their heads hinged open with the brains being programmed. Next! Next! Next! :rotfl:

I think if CMs were going to be "programmed" to say anything it would be the exact opposite.

I know the first weekend in October is very busy, not sure about the last weekend in September, but maybe it is the D23 event.

I don't believe it's programming. I think that cast member
was just mentioning the predictions. It's the 55 Anniversary,
it's the weekend of the D23 event (and they are doing
something special for the 55th) and it's the second weekend
of the Halloween event.

That's going to be an unusually busy September weekend.

What are they doing for the 55th Anniversary? All I heard about was the signing happy birthday thing, but they only did that on the actual day in July- what else is going on?

Great, now you've got me worried. We're going Oct. 14. Please, someone reassure me that we'll have a great time and that crowds won't be bad :)

I don't think it is going to be as busy , I think there will be normal crowds during the week halfway through the month, who knows? But not as busy as the Sept 26th weekend and the beginning on October.
