Hi everyone! I'm posting a pic of my dress so that all of you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Looking at this dress with all that embroidery in gold and all that organza....would it be waaaay to over the top to do a tiara and chapel length veil? Would chapel length be too long and cover up all the detail? Really, I'm very open to suggestions. Let me know if you think I'm going a little bit too princess Diana with all the extra stuff.

To tone it down should I just wear a veil, or just a fingertip veil? Or maybe just a tiara and no veil?............Thanks Guys!!!!!!!

I'd wear a single layer fingertip veil, thats what I did and it showed off the embroidery in my dress. Definitely wear a tiara if you want too.

I think that a chapel length veil would cover up some of the beautiful designs the dress has. You should go with a fingertip veil and possibly a tiara depending on how you are doing your hair. Is your dress at a bridal salon? Have you tried on the dress? if so were you able to try on the veils as well? I know that sometimes being able to try on the dress and the veils with chapel length and fingertip length and elbow length may help.

The dress pictured is the actual dress I have, the dress maker took a pic of it to put in her portfolio for future customers. I'm going to wear my hair up but I haven't really chosen the style. My hair used to be all the way down my back and now it's shoulder length so I've got to figure out what can be done with it. I've tried on a few veils and I didn't seem to prefer one length over the other. I'm clueless?????

I would go with a fingertip veil so it doesn't cover up much of the material and you are still able to wear a veil. By having your hair up I think a tiara would look pretty with the veil. Why not be a princess for at least your wedding day?

Thanks! You have a point, I was just wondering if I would look silly since I'm having an intimate with just a few people

Who cares if it's an intimate and only a few people are coming? This is your wedding and I think that the dress has Princess written all over it!!! With an intimate you're still getting your pics done so you want to wear your dream dress.
Anyway, I think a tiara would be gorgeous, especially with your hair up. I'd go with the shorter veil (fingertip or elbow length) b/c the back is amazing and a long veil would cover it up. Just remember that where you wear the veil has an effect on it's length (underneath updo vs. on top of you head).

My daughter had silver embroidery with lots of crystal beading, similar to the amount on your gown. She chose a shoulder length veil with blusher, and a crystal headband rather than a tiara. A shorter tiara would work in the same way. Here's a link to her bridal photos. Just flip through and you can get a good idea of how it will look with veil on or off:

Good luck! ~Ev :)

A little off topic, but Ev, Kate's pics are beautiful!!

Back on topic, my dress has LOTS of beading on the front, but not so much on the back. So, I am going with a chapel length veil. I think with all of your embroidery, it would be a shame to cover it up. Any veil you pick will look beautiful, though.

It's not silly- it's your day- I am wearing a veil and tiara and am having an intimate as well. Do what you want to do- you're only supposed to get married once, and if you're having an FTW why not be a princess for the day?

i agree with everyone else, don't skip out on the veil just go for a shorter one. the dress is so beautiful it would be a shame to cover it up with a long veil!

Thanks everyone! I think I'll do a single layer fingertip length veil with a small tiara. Now....just gotta find that :scratchin

Ev....Kate's pics are gorgeous!

I'm definitely going to do a single layer, fingertip length veil with a tiara.
You are all right, a chapel length would cover up all that embroidery.

I love this board. Everyone is soooo helpful!!! :goodvibes

I love that dress, where in the world did you find it???

By the way I would do fingertip. My dress is corsetted and lots of beading on the back so I am going to do fingertip as well, but I am going to have tiny rhinestones in the veil.

I would do the tiara and no veil. Im just not partial to veils though. But definately do the tiara. Its your wedding day, be the princess.

Your dress is beautiful.
