Is this too much?

It's definitely a change for me to ask someone before buying something, since I work and have my own money I never really had to. That is a good way to look at it and see what's mostly for me instead of both. It's just hard with him because he does not like planning at all. Almost all our trips I do all the planning and he's quite happy to do it that way. I thought about just presenting him this list and going from there, I'm just worried if it's too over the top he'll shoot something down right away, whereas if I only have a couple then he might be more agreeable to everything. I'm just not sure what to cut and what to do. I do think he'd enjoy everything on the list, I also think he'd be happy having no plans. (as a planner that's terrifying lol) I'll see if he has an overall figure in mind to stay under, that might help with picking things.
I've been married 23 years. My dh is spontaneous. I'm more of a planner, but not an OCD planner. Im sure a lot of people on here would consider me not a planner at all. Personally I would keep your plans to yourself. I've found with men it goes in one ear and out the other. My dh is OK with anything as long as we have the cash for it. Men are so eazzzy. I can pretty much get whatever I want using a little womanly manipulation... just saying.

I wonder if cruise lines have an "OBC Registry" or something similar. You'd think that they'd jump on anything that makes them money.
I've tried looking into a few different options. Haven't really found anything that'll work for us yet.

I'd say only the couples massage and the cabana are major splurges. They're both in the $400 range and everything else is more like $40.
That's true, I could probably lead the conversation mentioning those prices and willing to cut if it puts us over budget.

I will just say as someone who has experienced trying to chill at SB and in the cabana behind the chair group I was at was couple who didn’t get that the cabanas are private but not PRIVATE...they aren’t. The chairs are not so far in front of them that sound doesn’t carry. :)

ETA: Only bringing that up because “honeymoon”.
That never crossed my mind:rolleyes1
I think the first thing I'd be willing to cut would be the cabana. We've always had a good time on the island without one.

I would focus on the Europe trip tbh. That WILL be expensive. I know it's your honeymoon but I assume of the two locations, the odds of you going back to the Bahamas/Carribean within the next few years is much higher than going back to Europe.
Funnily enough I think this Disney cruise is going to be double the cost of our European cruise. Since we're doing concierge it's making the room double the cost of our 15 night cruise on Celebrity. A lot of the excursions I was looking at are around the $100 range. I also will have to pay for those when I book unlike Disney's when you pay at the end.

Remy is magnificent and if that is where you got engaged, I would definitely do it again!
If you don't like the cruise food, I don't think Palo dinner and brunch is overboard. I believe you have to be in a Royal Suite to have Palo delivered. I would e-mail or call shoreside concierge to confirm.
Mixology - yes!
Excursions - Stingray City is pretty cool! If you want to save some money, you can also just get off the ship, hop in a shared taxi and go somewhere on Seven Mile Beach (we went to Royal Palms Club on our stop in Grand Cayman)
We stayed on the ship in both Cozumel and Falmouth on our cruise last week. We enjoyed a less busy ship!
Skip the couples massage. We've done it and it was subpar and too expensive, IMHO. I can get much better spa services at home, so I skip Senses when sailing DCL. Save your money and just get the Rainforest pass OR simply go in the hot tub on the concierge sundeck! We had it to ourselves a few times on our last cruise.
Skip the Cabana. We've done cabanas twice and opted not to do one on our last cruise. We had zero issue finding great loungers with shade. Go to Serenity Bay, find a place in the shade and enjoy the beach!
We've never done a couples massage so I think that'll be easy to forgo. I do love the private sun deck for concierge, no one was ever in that hot tub either. Thanks for the tips!

I would personally skip the cabana and I also vote for staying on the boat in Jamaica. :)
Thanks :)

tough choices.

really depends on what your budget is. We love the family cabanas on CC and this would be a nice splurge for a honeymoon.
The couples massage isn't a must do but that's a personal choice.
I'd buy a 1 day pass online for the rainforest room in advance if those are still being offered. It's perfect for couples.

The meals are something you both need to decide on. We've found that 1 dinner / 1 brunch at either Palo or Remy is enough. But I have done Remy and Palo dinner + a Palo brunch all on a 4nt Dream cruise while sailing concierge and it was fine. So I might book that again for a 7nt, especially if it's my honeymoon and I really don't care for the food in the MDR's, and given the special memory that Remy holds.
I'm not really sure what the budget is. He just says we need to budget. I'm thinking if I can convince him of what we should book those will be considered within budget. I think the rainforest pass is still available, this cruise is pretty far out I can't imagine something is already sold out. And I really want to enjoy the MDRs, but I really could go without everything except one pasta dish I love and I'd be fine. We've done Palo and Remy dinner, so brunch would be a new experience for us. When doing the brunch do you feel like you're still full by dinner and could skip going all together?

We would prefer the cabana time on cc over a couples massage in the spa.

We really enjoy the nice quiet section of beach and few amenities that come with it.
They do seem nice and it's really going to be the only opportunity we have to book one.

They do have a tour like this and it's amazing! My TR has a description.
That sounds like fun!

My Fiance likes hearing about the plans, but usually will be okay with me choosing everything we do. He doesn't like planning at all and prefers it that way. I agree that womanly manipulation is very helpful.

Just out of curiosity, what are your European ports of call?
  • It leaves out of Southampton, England
  • St. Peter Port, Channel Island
  • Waterford(Dunmore E) Ireland
  • Cork, Ireland
  • Dublin, Ireland - 2 full days 4am to 11pm
  • Reykjavik, Iceland - 1 1/2 days
  • Akureyi, Iceland
  • Belfast, Northern Ireland
  • Ends in Southampton, England
  • There are four sea days as well

I've tried looking into a few different options. Haven't really found anything that'll work for us yet.

I don't know if it would be tacky or passe (or however you spell it), but you could provide the guests with your reservation number. They could then add OBC to your account via the cruise gifts form and you could focus your money on paying for the cruise itself. I don't think they could make a payment on your cruise with that or not. Another option would be to ask for Disney Gift Cards rather than gifts, as those can be used to pay on the cruise.

That's a great itinerary. What cruiseline?

We might do the gift card route, that way we can apply it to either the cruise balance or OBC. A lot of my family doesn't understand my love of Disney so I don't know if they'll want to buy that or not.

Celebrity Silhouette. It'll be my first time sailing on Celebrity. We were looking at a lot of different cruise lines for Europe and booked before Disney released their schedule. From this years prices I had a feeling it would be too expensive for us. I've always wanted to go to Iceland and we are paying $1,000 less for a balcony than the inside cabin for the Disney Iceland cruise.

Was it one of those deals where they give you two of drink package/gratuities/wifi/something I’ve forgotten?

When we booked we got one free perk so we went with the drink package. The lady on the phone said if a better promotion comes out I can call to have it applied.

Just wanted to respond to your question regarding Palo brunch - it's so much food and SO good! Yes, you could probably have the brunch and skip dinner or just even have a light snack delivered to your room later or enjoy the offerings in the concierge lounge at dinner time.

Perfect thank you :)

I would pay the difference to upgrade to the premium drinks package. That's what we did and it was $11 a day I think per person? You're covered for anything on the ship less than $15 that way. The normal drinks package pretty much limits you to domestic beer and house wine with dinner and no cocktails or coffee. We usually broke even by breakfast just on orange juice and coffee.

We'll definitely upgrade then since I prefer martinis and love coffee. How would I upgrade, is that something we do once on the ship or can I do it now?

love this itinerary. would be a great future sail for Disney. *hint* *hint* :thumbsup2

We asked our travel agent to upgrade us before we got on board. There is the portal online and you might be able to do it there but I don't have experience with it. You can also just do it when you get on the ship. I think I heard when you get on the ship you just upgrade for the remaining days of the voyage so technically you could try the basic for a day then go for it but if you know what you want going in there is probably no point to waiting.
