Is this too much?

I reserved the Wishes Desert Party today for Christmas Eve. I have dinner scheduled for 5 p.m. at Kona Cafe and Wishes starts at 10, so we are to arrive at 9 for the desert party. It will be hard to pass up desert after dinner, but want to save room for all the other tempting deserts at the party. It will be our first full day in the park (we are arriving Dec. 23), we will do rope drop at MK then take a break and go back for our dinner at 5. Looking for opinions. We are not doing any parks Christmas day. Does it sound like a good plan?

As a side note. I haven't told anyone in our party of 8 (my DH, 2 kids, parents, and brother and sister-in-law). I thought it would be my Christmas present to them. Maybe I should make some kind of package with a picture of the fireworks and an invitation???

Personally I wouldn't do all that on my first day there....not to mention on Christams Eve. It will be jammed packed, so getting anything done, rides and attractions will be hard to do having all that packed in.
I would maybe think about doing a CS for dinner or skipping the party and having a nice relaxing dinner.
JMO but I wouldn't do both.

It sounds like you have a great plan...

Kona is at Poly...which is close to MK... 5p gives you plenty of time to catch the monorail to MK... then possibly have a little time to take in Tomorrowland before your Wishes ressie at 9p...

I would do it...

DS18 and I did MK our First Day last visit in May. I knew he would LOVE Cali Grill Sushi...so we left MK...Monorail to CR....a bit early and he actually took a little nap on the sofa near the waiting area.... We had ADR's at Cali Grill around 5pm... toured the observation deck...and left in plenty of time to monorail back to MK (long route for our stomachs to settle) then headed to MK. I wanted to watch Wishes from MK (not cali grill) so that we could see Tink Fly....We had time to do several visits to Buzz before grabbing our area for Wishes...

Have a Wonderful Time !

The schedule sounds doable but I would go a little light at dinner so I could really enjoy the dessert party. The only thing that I would worry about would be capacity levels on Christmas Eve but I don't know how much of a concern that should be.

OP here. Thanks for all the replies! I thought of that too. Has anyone ever been Christmas Eve and had it close to capacity?

I am not too worried about it being too much activity our first full day there in terms of schedule, I was more worried about too much food. I will definately skip dessert at dinner:rotfl: We are actually getting there the day before in the afternoon and will not be doing too much that day or anything in the parks on Christmas day. We are also leaving the park around noon for a rest at the hotel and going back for dinner and the party. We may or may not ride rides that evening, whatever the kids feel like. We will have road rides that morning and we will go to MK on another day as well.

If MK closes for capacity on Christmas Eve you will not be allowed into the park even if you have a reservation for the dessert party. I'd personally suggest you stay in the park. Christmas Eve is one of the days where there is traditionally a risk of MK closing for capacity.

We did a 5:30 supper at the Plaza Restaurant in the MK followed by the Dessert Party at 9:00 on our recent trip. In between we were able to do Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear and some other things. I agree about staying in the park.

I say go for it! Who wants to rest the first day? Kona is close to MK and you have plenty of time to get there. Especially if you are taking in easy and not doing a park the next day. (JMO)

I love the idea of an invitation/package for your family (so they don't eat too much at Kona!) I'm trying to convince my DH to take me to the dessert party for my birthday!
