Is this too much moving for one trip?

We are planning on taking my 2 sons and a few of their friends to WDW over Easter Break '08. Chances are we are going to have a full house, with 6 teenage boys (if they all come) and 2 adults (me and DH). The boys want to go to Vero for a bit, then spend the rest of the time at WDW.

Here is what I was thinking, though I'm afraid that it might be too much moving:

2 nights - 2 BR VB. I could skip this part but the boys really want to go to Vero. We've been once and it would be nice to get back.

4 nights - 2 BR AKV. AKL has always been one of my favorites and I am thrilled that they are opening up AKV!

2 nights BWV - GV. I know it is not necessary to get a GV, but we love the Boardwalk and thought it would be nice to end our trip in a spacious GV. Plus, by the end of the trip, we might really appreciate the extra space.

I like this plan because we get to see the ocean and stay at my 2 favorite resorts. I am concerned that we are moving too much with such a big party. I wouldn't be worried at all if it was just the four of us, but with 8 - I just don't know. Any opinions?

My sons will be in 11th and 12 grade on this trip, so this is our last chance to do this kind of trip - with the boys bringing their buddies along with us.

I just split a 6 day trip...

4 nights at pofq....2 nights pop....

IMO...U need a solid 3 nights per place to feel "settled"

2 nights at 2 different places...1 being kinda far...

might be too much moving for your party...

good luck

IMHO I wouldn't worry about the moving. We do this regularly during our vacations.

1st of all starting off at VB is good for for your teenagers and 3 days/2 nights wilding it up of rth boys will be great fun.

Then of to WDW where moving between resorts is a piece of cake because CM's do the move for you lpus yopu have all older children going and can spend lots of time at the park while the CM's are in process.

Just go for it!:)

We moved 6 people from ASports to VWL, and it was a drag-I had to unpack and re-pack everything.

Oddly enough, my husband and father were like, oh, it's a breeze!

And my mother and I were like, NEVER again!

So it may depend upon who's doing the unpacking and repacking...

We always stay in 3 places during a week or 10 day stay.
I like to be in a resort by the theme park area we will be visiting. Plus I like the variety.
It isn't that hard to move if you do a little preplanning. I like to pack my outfits in the huge ziplock bags. Easy to pull out just the one you will be wearing. No major repacking between moves. We also always get a rental car, so I suppose this makes it easier to move.
Have fun.

It really depends on your personality. I don't mind moving at all; we do it often. I pack carefully so with the shorter stays I can just live out of one suitcase, and with DVC it's easier because you can do laundry. I don't think your trip sounds like too much moving. We've done three resorts in five nights (which was a little much, I need two nights at each resort to really enjoy it). Your plan sounds great to me, but others will say they never like changing resorts. Everyone's different.

Also will depend on the boys and their friends personalities. Are these the "get up at the crack of dawn because there's so much to see and do" types? Or are they the "stay up half the night and sleep until 1 pm because it's vacation and we can" types - which is not unusual with teen boys.

I've done the split between Vero and BWV with teen boys and it was fun, but getting them up and at 'em to check out on time can be a real challenge. I can't imagine trying to do it 3 times!

I never mind when mine sleep in (it's their vacation, too) unless it's a checkout day. I can't think you won't have a few late sleepers with that big a group.

It sounds fun but....teenagers can be tough in the morning. I thought about changing resorts during our upcoming 7 night trip and then after advice from this board and remembering last year I changed my mind. Getting those two teens up was not easy. We are changing rooms but not resorts. That day I'll just send them down to the pool half sleeping ;) We have to check out at 7:00 a.m. our last day and that will be hard enough!

The Vero Beach part sounds like a blast - I would love to do that with my teens. Good luck in your decision.

Thanks for your input. Another idea would be to stay at WDW the entire time (AKV & BWV), and do a day trip to the beach. But honestly, that sounds like an even bigger pain to me than moving!

If it were me, I'd do 3 nights at Vero, because it does take time to settle and figure things out, and then 5 nights at WDW, just pick a resort. I can't stand moving around!!! I just added an extra day on the end of our trip, and at the thought of moving I just cringe!!!!

I agree with Clarabelle.
Believe me, I've done the 3 resorts in one vacation. Last summer we did BCV/Vistana/OKW but it was in the span of a 12 night stay. Considering your stay is shorter, I'd opt for 3 nights at Vero and then 5 at AKL (since you mentioned you really loved that resort). Or at least do 2 nights at Vero, then 6 at one wdw resort. The thing I dislike most about moving is that you're without a "home" for several hours---sometimes until as late as 5 or 6 pm and packing and unpacking does eat of valuable vacation time. I know disney will move your bags, but we just like having a room to pop back into especially if we want a midday break.
If I add an extra day, I prefer to do it at the beginning of our trip so you don't get all settled in and then have to move.
