Hey, I'm originally from Middletown, Ohio! Haven't been home in a long time but it was nice to see a familiar town on the board.

As far as your trip plan it sounds really good but the only word of caution I would give (Being a die-hard commando type) is to be flexible and if for some reason the family is too tired to really enjoy the day, stop and take a break even if it's not on the schedule. I practically ruined our last trip in 2001 because I felt the need to STICK TO THE PLAN! We were sitting in 50's Prime Time Cafe and I was so tired that I was miserable and didn't get to enjoy it at all. I would have been better off calling it a day earlier and trying to head back there another day.

Have a great trip.

I would take two days for Universal--one for the Studios and one for Islands of Adventure. That way you can get the two day tickets and can hop between the parks.

The rest of your plan looks good.

IOA is more of a thrill ride park and my kids are not big enough for more than half the rides. So I am only going to the Studios part of Universal.

 It is not my kind of holiday. I would be catching more rays, swimming and enjoying resort. Leave some for another trip.
Sounds like you have young kids. It doesn't pay to drag them around and get overtired. My grandkids enjoy at least every other day just relaxing and swimming at Grandpas pools.
However to each their own.

What about Animal Kingdom? With small kids, I'm sure you'd all love it!

We went to Universal in Dec with no crowds at all and I still did not like it very much. I find a lot of the rides to hard for me to take...I find even Men in Black too jerky even though I like Rock N Roller at MGM just fine.

I didn't like the quality of the food or the level of service.

I would move Universal up so that you will not be let down but then again...maybe we just were there on an off day...

Depends upon whether you're touring "commando" style or not. We usually pick one park (sometimes two) per day to visit. But that doesn't mean we arrive at 7:30 for EMH and leave at closing.

With young children, we usually arrive between 9-10am and stay for about 3 hours before returning to the hotel for nap time.

Then in the late afternoon / early evening we will head out again and often stay until closing.

That's still only a max of 6-7 hours of park time per day, which is no problem for the little ones.

So, to answer your question, no I don't think it's too much at all. And I think you've done a smart thing to leave a day open. That gives you the ability to skip individual rides / attractions if wait times are excessive, and try to catch them again on Friday.
