I see Osborn Family lights has been scheduled for this year from 11/6 to 1/3 but I am wondering with all the upcoming changes to DHS will this be the last year. I hope not. Its been on my bucket list for a while and I don't think I can squeeze in a trip this year.

No one knows. Every year for at least the last 5 this question has been asked. Now that it's official that major changes are coming, perhaps this time it is.

I thought last year was going to be the end of the Osborne Lights and yet they are still here. I even did a quick weekend trip so I could see them. So you never know until they officially announce their removal.

I know you cant be sure until it's announced but I doubt Disney is going to say this is the last year. they might announce next summer that the lights have been canceled and it will be too late to see them then.

They might. As I said, no one knows.

"Turn Out The "Osborne" Lights,The Party's Over"

(after this year)JMHO:)

Is it worth a quick weekend trip? I was just looking at the calendar and I might be able to swing 11/14-11/16. that would have me there for Osborn lights and the last weekend of food and wine.

This is why I need to stay away from these boards. I ask 1 question and next thing you know I'm planning a vacation

And that's a bad thing why exactly? :)

They could possibly be moved. There was a year break between Residential Street and New York Street locations.

Now I'm looking at date to catch the lights! I'm not sure if i should be thanking you or cursing you!

I have a feeling this is the last year. Of course, I had that feeling last year and convinced my husband to take a quick trip down over Thanksgiving weekend to see them. ;)

What has transpired that makes everyone think the days of the Osborne Lights are numbered? I know I've seen this topic come up before but never understood why they would get rid of them since they are so popular. With HS construction I could see where they might have to discontinue for a while but am hopeful it wouldn't be permanent.

I live a quick 8 hour drive away so it was worth it for me to go for a weekend. I'd have loved it if I could have found cheap airline tickets but that wasn't going to happen since I planned it out on a Monday and then I drove down on Friday, went to MVMCP that evening, then spent Saturday at Epcot checking out the various Christmas stuff and walking around World Showcase, grabbed the boat and hopped over to DHS and rode TSMM and Star Tours and saw the lights. On Sunday morning, I went to AK until 1pm at which point I jumped in my car and drove home arriving about 9pm on Sunday night.

It was fun solo whirlwind weekend and totally worth it for me.

I think DHS is going to be transformed to a different park and making space for the lights may not be a priority and with years of construction ahead for the studios it may be a couple of years at best before they have them again

I talked to some O-Lights techs during my last trip who did everything but come out and say that the 20th would be the last.

With Streets of America going away, there may not be anywhere suitable in the "new" Park.

Plus Disney is known to do away with popular attractions when THEY feel they have finished their run(see Lights of Winter,Off Kilter,etc.).:)

I've been hearing that rumor for a long time, but it really seems to have picked up steam this year with the announcement of all the major changes coming to DHS in the near future. While I'm not so attached to them that I'd run out and book a trip just in case, I'm not arguing with my mother's idea that we should do just that because she's always wanted to see them (since they first moved to WDW) and hasn't had a chance yet. Maybe the rumors are all wrong and they'll be back same as always in 2016, or maybe Disney will find them another home if they're displaced by the construction at Studios, but I'd rather be wrong about the trip we took than get to next summer and have Disney pull a "Lights of Winter" (which I really wanted to see, but were cancelled the summer before we finally managed a Christmas trip!) on us.

Or when the greed monster strikes and they can find something cheaper to replace it with. So next year you will get "fancy Christmas Tree" LOL!

Hopefully they find a home for this. As awesome as DHS looks to be after they build Star Wars and Toy Story lands, the Osbourne Lights are in my top 5 favorite things about the Disney parks. I wonder what the contract looks like? Because if they stop doing it, Universal Studios will snap it up.

Disney can't keep removing Christmas attractions, and this is a big one everyone comes to see, they would upset many people if these lights go away.Looking at an aerial view of the park its quite possible the Streets of America don't even get touched by Star Wars or Toy Story land construction. That's one possibility, another one is if that they end up having to find a temporary home for a couple of years until they find a permanent home somewhere else at DHS,my theory is a new location in Toy Story land.

I can't see this being the last year for the lights. It probably only has a few years left but at the pace Disney is planning on doing the expansion i don't think anyone has anything to worry about for a few years. I would assume Star Wars land construction wont start until Toy Story Land is open. That park can't really afford to lose many more attractions.
