Is this the free birthday cake onboard? (pic)

We love the round little chocolate mousse cake with the sprinkles and chocolate piece. You can always order additional desserts off the menu.

Our very first birthday aboard, we ordered a cake - never again (it was not necessary). There is so much food. I recommend saving the money. My kids LOVE the little round one, and were just as happy. They also order an ice cream sundae to accompany the mousse.

I am all about the chocolate. :)

I would have been sad if it had been white cake with what looks like strawberry filling. GROSS!

Maybe you could take the picture of what you want to a local bakery or candy shop and they could make one for you, since its not available anymore on the ships, and give it to the server to place on the cake before they bring it out.

This is an EXCELLENT IDEA!!! Bring something! They will put it on for you and you will save the fee of a custom cake!!!

Actually, the cake was very good. Just too much. I'm thinking that it was a wasted expense for DCL to continue such a large cake for birthday celebrations.

I'll just point out that they may not be able to duplicate the DCL logo on the smokestacks (copy write issues), but should be able to make a generic ship for you to use. And I'd worry about breaking it in the process of getting it to the ship.

Just to piggy back on this, does anyone have a picture of a cake they ordered on the ship? We're celebrating two birthdays on our cruise and I was thinking of ordering the birthday cakes (ahead of time, of course).

Unless you're ordering the Specialty Cake, there's no birthday message on the cake. And all Celebration cakes do not come with special decorations. They are just generic Disney themed cakes.

The cheapest one that allows a message is the 8" cake - $32.00

We will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary while on board the Wonder in July, and
even tho I would like it to be extra special, I don't want cake... but, that mousse looks delicious...

if your son's birthday is actually occurring on the trip, they will know! :) but you can note on your reservation now that you are celebrating his birthday. they will make a fuss. there are lots of desserts to be had. have a great cruise :flower:

The mousse is used for all the celebrations! :) When we cruised as a family in 2013, we were technically celebrating my parents' 45th anniversary, but they also celebrated my sister and my birthdays (same day, not twins) - the cruise happened to fall right in the middle of the events. We celebrated the anniversary one night - they got the mousse with a "Happy Anniversary" chocolate bit, the next night we celebrated the birthdays - mousse with happy birthday chocolate bit. Chocolate bit as pictured - not the ship.

Okay. Thank you for the responses...no I obviously dont want an old piece of chocolate from 2013 Dug :sad2:. I thought the chocolate cruise ship was possibly still offered on the purchased cake. I'm still willing to purchase a cake if they allow me to once on board...I was told it's really a 50/50 chance..I won't push it and make a fuss if it'll be a problem.problem . we sailed in 2010 last and it was Def not the little mousse chocolate thing.

On a good note..I called last night and they now offer a new on board gift you can purchase. It wasn't even showing up online when me and tge cast member checked. Its about $24 I think it's called ships ahoy and it's a chocolate dcl ship, dcl coins, and an edible picture frame...according to the cast member on the phone. I think I'm going to call in the morning and order it and have it sent to the room on his bday.:)

That sounds great. As far as the chocolate ship on the past cakes. I bet they made them in house and could probably make you one if you speak to your head server who in turn could speak to the pastry chef. You never know!! May need a few days lead time so speak to your head server at your first dinner to see if at all possible.

I liked our anniversary dessert in Palo.....and it had very few calories!!!! LOL!!!

MJ,

OMG!!! 33 years??!!!! You both look so young!!! Cheers!!!

This is a picture of the cake I ordered for my dad on the Fantasy in 2013. It was marble cake with dark chocolate filling and vanilla icing. We shared it with our tablemates (for a total of 8 servings) and then gave the remainder to our servers to enjoy (and they thanked me profusely the next day because they rarely get anything like that).

mmouse37 did you order that beautiful plate ahead of time? I would love to have that...just
so simple but, elegant...

You don't order the plates. You are "pixie dusted" with them.

Here's a picture of the cake I ordered to celebrate graduations on our Alaskan cruise.

Was it an upside down cake? ;)

I wish I had thought of that. We couldn't finish the left overs.
