Is this still there???

20 years ago my parents took us to WDW for Christmas. While there we enjoyed 2 things that I can't remember the name of, nor know if they are still there.

1. Seems like there was a penny arcade. Lots of old type machines that you could interact with, with only a Penny. Is this still there? Or am I getting confused with another theme park? Seems like it was in MK.

2. There's a ride, again think it's in MK, that's an indoor roller coaster...of sorts. It's like a train and I remember a burning house, you think you're going to run right into it then it drops down and you go under it. There was only a lap belt, although that could have changed with tougher safety restrictions. Was this at MK? If so, what's the name of it?

I don't believe either of these are there. If they are, we totally missed them on all of our trips. The closest I can think of is...

There is a shooting arcade that you have to pay for.

There is an outdoor roller coaster that is a train called Big Thunder Mountain.

I don't recall them being in other parks either. I've never been to Universal...could that be it?

Nope, not at Universal. When we went we only went to MK and Epcot. If I remember right that's probably all they had 20 years ago! LOL We did the 3 day tickets, went to MK one day, Epcot the second, and park-hopped the 3rd to do things we liked/missed at both parks.

Maybe I'm remembering another theme park, but I thought for sure it was in MK. It's been so long since I went to either of these it could be anywhere! LOL

1) Gone. Was on the right on main street, made to look like a theater out front.

2) Maybe you are confusing space mountain with something else you saw too. When you "blast" off you go through a tunnel like area that turns bright orange - as if you are blasting off which may be where you are getting a burning house. Then you have rides like Thunder Mountain train, Pirates with burning buildings etc, that may have just snuck into your memory

I'm thinking there used to be an old time arcade on Main Street with old movie machines. They were all a penny or a nickel. I haven't seen this in quite a while, so either I'm passing the place up, it's changed into a store, or it's moved.

I'm not sure about the ride at all.

I wonder if you may be getting two different attractions confused as regards the roller coaster. Big Thunder Mountain has a section where it looks as if a giant rock is going to fall on your head, but then you go under it. You CAN see a burning house from Big Thunder (if you look quickly!), however, it's actually located across from Tom Sawyer Island and you can see it easily from the Liberty Belle Riverboat.

The 'penny arcade' is gone, but you can find a few of the elements at Exposition Hall.

I remember a long time ago there was a place on main street in MK that had machines. You could put in a penny and see a little cartoon. It is now a shop. It is next to the sports store. I seem to recall the burning house thing also, but I couldn't tell you where it was. It almost seems like it had clowns involved, but my memory has seen better days. Sorry!

I am very glad to know I was remembering the Penny Arcade correctly! Sad to know it's no longer there! It was fun to see the old games and picture shows you could do. Was hoping to share that with my kids. Oh well.

On the ride, I know it wasn't Space Mountain because I remember that VERY well! LOL I can't wait to ride this one again!!! Probably won't get to ride too many major coasters because of the 2 smaller children (ages 6 & 3) and not sure how adventous the 11yo will be. Oh well, I'll just go by myself!

I could be wrong, but this ride sounds like the Blazing Fury at the old Silver Dollar City (now Dollywood) in Pigeon Forge.

The second one makes me think of Silver Dollar City also, but we went to the one in Branson. I remember when you saw the burning house you could hear the DW screaming for the DH to get back in there and get his pants on.

They moved a few of the hand-cranked "moving-picture" machines onto the waiting room of the Main Street railroad station.

Now that its being remodeled, I don't know if they will keep them or move them out.

There are also a couple of the penny arcade machines in the Sports store next to Casey's. My daughter and I used both of them just a few weeks ago.

If it was the ride at Silver Dollar City (now Dollywood) the ride is still there only updated a bit. I think it's called Blazing Fury or something like that.

There is a Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri that is still called Silver Dollar City and it still has the actual Fire in the Hole. I think you almost run into a building, a train, and something else before you go down a hill.
It's a good park actually. Much better than any Six Flags. Nice and clean, with good theming and some new, pretty good rides.

The ride you are describing sounds a little like Mr.Toad's Wild Ride -- alas, it is in the great ride graveyard in the sky. It didn't dip, but it went into all sorts of houses and fires

I just wanted to agree that there are still some penny crank movie machines in the Sports Shop on Main Street. There are also some other old time machines that cost a dime I believe. We like the one baseball one. I also saw a few on the Main Street train platform, but I don't know if they will still be there after the renovation.
