Is this silly or too childish?

When I was in summer camp years and years ago we were given a safety pin with beads on it in the color of the rainbow. We were told when times were tough remeber it takes a rain storm to bring a rainbow.

Anyway, I still have it and Sunday I am meeting friends who are all having issues of some form (failed ivf, money, job etc) would it be corny if I made them each one to keep in their wallets?

No, I think it's a lovely idea, and if they don't like it, I hope they're good enough friends to keep their mouths shut!

No. Definitely not corny at all.

If I received one, I wouldn't keep it in my purse though. I'd probably attach it to something where it would be visible often...such as my keychain. It would also be a wonderful reminder of what a special friend I have in you.

I think that is a great idea and very thoughtful of you!

When I was little and was having a hard time my mom gave me a little safty pin with two hand made people called "worry people" attached to it and I still have it to this day.

What a great friend you are to give your friends a gesture of hope in their hard times!

I don't think it is corry at all. My aunt had a small ceramic plaque type thing in her living room that had a saying storms bring rainbows. I can't remember exactly what it said but it was beautiful plaque that had a rainstorm on one half and a rainbow on the other half.

By making them and giving them the rainbow safety pins you are showing support and love for them. Small acts of kindness can have the biggest impacts on those who receive them.

Thanks for your kind responses! I just wanted to make sure people wouldn't think I was crazy for doing it lol

I think it's a lovely idea! I would be incredibly touched if one of my friends gave me something like that. It's a really sweet gesture.:goodvibes

I don't think its a corny idea at all, its something small, thoughtful and sentimental, that every time they see they will smile and think of you and your kindness.

You could even go to the craft store and maybe find some larger safety pins or the ones that only open on the one side, or some really cool beads to jazz it up.

I wish I had someone who did thoughtful things like that for me, I appreciate things that people put a little thought and care into so much more than something they just went out and bought. I would cherish a handwritten personal card or letter more than anything anyone could buy me.

I think it's a wonderful idea!

Wrong time of the year, but a DC of mine does a similar thing every July on her bday: writes down on slips of paper all the saddnesses/madnesses in her life from the past year, then feeds them into the campfire one at a time. It's very cathartic.

You're a good friend...

Terri

That is super sweet and I got tears in my eyes reading that. I am actually going through some difficult things that you actually mentioned your friends are going through and if I received something like that, I would always hold it dear to my heart.

Just found this thread and I wanted to add my support for your idea. It would mean so much to me if my friend did something like that for me. You are a wonderful friend!:goodvibes

I think you are a good friends and not corny at all.

Plain and simple but hopefully meaningful!
