I think it is a very sweet gesture and I would be touched.

Keep in mind though, safety pins with rainbow beads are now used by high school and college students to display gay pride or support for the LGBT community, so if any of your friends wear the pin visibly, it will likely have that connotation to many.

When I was in summer camp years and years ago we were given a safety pin with beads on it in the color of the rainbow. We were told when times were tough remeber it takes a rain storm to bring a rainbow.

Anyway, I still have it and Sunday I am meeting friends who are all having issues of some form (failed ivf, money, job etc) would it be corny if I made them each one to keep in their wallets?

When I was growing up in the 80's. We made these (but used all different colors of beads) . They were called friendship pins and were quite popular.

To me, your pin should be given to friends....that the colors have meaning makes the pin that much more special. I think it's sweet.
