Just got my UOG 2005 in the mail and can't put it down:D . But I was really surprised to see the UOG say that Wed. & Sat. are LEAST crowded for MK during the summer!! Is this true? From everything else I have heard/read MK is busy on Sat. no matter what time of year. I am beginning to plan our trip next June and I am trying to break down which park to go to on which day. Anyone out there have any thoughts on this??

Interesting! I assume they have some sort of data to back that up,but I think it just depends. We were just in the MK, Wed Aug. 4th and it was a very busy day! Even E-night was crowded!
In 2002, again in Aug. we spent the morning of our last day in the MK, a Sat. We couldn't figure out where everyone was. We walked right onto quite a few rides!
The only planning we did, as far as park day went, was to miss early open. Our idea of Extra Magic Hour is that extra hour of sleep!;)

Maybe Wed through Fri. Over the years Mon/Tues have been the busiest days because of the weekend are travel days and locals staying away on the weekends during peak season. With the addition of hotel rooms attendance has flattened out over the week during summer with variances of 3-4000 from day to day. There is little variance Wed/Thu/Fri.

We do MK on Sundays as a first day to get it out of the way, never on a Saturday. Never do AK on a Monday, it's killer. Epcot is good on Wednesdays and Thursdays when the kids are out of school and MGM is good on Wednesdays.

This is from my experience. I do consult with the UOG and I love the book too. I also have the Passporter, Birnbaum's 2004 and WDW w/ the Kids.

Hi heidica,

Thanks for reading the Unofficial Guide. As Nickimouse speculated, we do indeed have data to back up those recommendations. Specifically, we looked at the peak wait times at all of the attractions to determine which days had the shortest and longest waits.

As Pilotmono says, there's little variation in crowd levels on a particular day. (The season influences crowd levels more than days of the week). On Sunday through Tuesday, if I recall correctly, the differences in peak wait times at the Magic Kindgom varied by about 5 minutes per day when we last looked at them.

Hope this helps. Thanks again for reading the Unofficial Guide.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

Thanks for the info. That does help me figure things out. I know going in June it is going to be busy, but it was the only time we could go, and I want to be prepared as much as possible.

we were in MK on saturday, august 21. it was very, very busy. manageable, but you had to move w/purpose to stay a step ahead of the crowds.

We was in MK Wednesday the 11th and it was soooo crowded. And E night was the most crowded I have ever seen an enight. hmmmm wonder where they find their info or was our Wednesday a break from the slow stuff?
