I'm going to Disneyland later this month for a one day solo trip. I will be there for work so I'm going to spend an entire day in the park. I did this two years ago and had an amazing time. It was my very first time in Disneyland. I'm getting ready to buy my park hopper for March 24 and cannot believe that it's $174. For one day. I'm strongly leaning towards a non-park hopper am not going to Disney's California adventure. I love the classic Disney and nostalgia of Disneyland so if I have to pick one park that would be the one I would go to. It's almost a $50 difference not to park hop.

Yeah, ticket prices have gotten crazy. If it were me, I'd buy the single park ticket. DL is way better than CA. In fact, in the past ten times or so that I've visited, I've skipped CA entirely (I have an annual pass that allows access to both). Hope this helps.

Thanks - yes it does help. I think I was looking for affirmation that DL is enough and I'll have a great time without needing to go into DCA. Last time I liked DCA - but spent 75% of my time in DL. Thanks!

For one day, doing a one park ticket will be fine. I end up spending most of my time in DCA these days though. DL has started to feel so overcrowded that you can barely walk. DCA is so much more open, I like the food there better, and the lines tend to be shorter. I can understand why for one day you would just want to do DL though.

We spend more time at DCA these days for the same reasons. DL crowds have been stifling. I enjoy hanging out in DCA, although I've done all those rides a LOT lately and wouldn't mind catching some at DL that I haven't done in a long time.

Start with a one park ticket. You can upgrade if you feel the need to park hop.
Keep in mind the crowds everyone has been talking about these days. In addition to spring breaks for schools.

Enjoy your trip

We always do one or two day tickets now for DH and I when we go and yes, it is PAINFULLY expensive. And yet, our addiction must be fed...

Anyway, I would say just go with a one park, especially since you said you spent 75% of your time at DL last time anyway. We did that for our first post-AP DL trip in December 2014 - a one park ticket for Disneyland. It was a great day, even though it was right before Christmas (the 22, I think) and very crowded. It's incredibly easy to spend an entire day at DL without hopping and have an enjoyable time.

With the price increase and just one day, you may also feel like you must hop a lot to get your money's worth. At least, that's how I would feel. Too stressful for me. I'd rather just stick to one park in that situation.

It is part of Disney's "slippery slope". Make 1-day stupid expensive, it makes multi-day seem a better deal in comparison.

$124 for 1-day, 1-park. But I can't do DCA.
$174 for 1-day hopper. No WAY!

If spending $174 to do both parks on 1-day, may as well do:
$200 for 2-day, 1-park per

But DCA is still not a full-day park so:
$245 for 2-day hopper.

Oh, but no magic morning, so:
$270 for 3-day

Oh, but then
$290 for 4-day

Well, then $620 for Deluxe AP with food and merchandise discounts.

Oh, but that AP is blocked on half of Saturdays and no free parking or photo downloads so:
$850 for signature AP

Which is why it was insane to put SWL in DL. Last thing we need is to make that park even more attractive to more bodies.

I guess land was probably the biggest issue with DCA as they need 14 acres for SWL. But I agree. They're adding SWL and Toy Story to Hollywood Studios in WDW to attract more customers to a park that is in need. But they are putting our SWL in our most popular park. I really hope they get moving on these Marvel Plans, but I fear we may have to wait until they can bulldoze the bus area and that is going to be years. They really need a new (actual, not just themed) ride at DCA to help with the crowds when SWL opens. They could do it too, if they would just get moving on it.

I remember when I was 19 (about 1992) going to Disneyland with some friends and a one day ticket was like $40. Ticket prices have gotten outrageous and ...... I've gotten OLD!

Yes! I'm about a decade younger than you, but I remember when Disneyland ran a $45 for 45 special for their 45th anniversary in 2000. The prices are just astronomical nowadays.

The prices make my stomach flip...that's why we go every other year instead of yearly, and since my kids are little we don't get the hoppers - but we splurge by staying at GCH :scared::rolleyes:
