Is this price for real???

That's "peak" pricing, yeah? I just paid $160/one day ticket for our one day hoppers last weekend.

Oh yeah, I bought before the price increase. Maybe that's "regular" now!

You are 100% right. It's outrageous.
When I see large families/groups walking around I just wonder how they afford it! I realize many are locals and have resident discounts, people prioritize their Disney and save and make it happen--but STILL. It's really crazy how expensive it is.

Is it really, though? Not too long ago, I checked some theme park prices (single parks) at places I visited as a child that are still going strong and the tickets were $60-$70 per day. I feel like Disney offers so much more than those parks I was looking at, so to me, yeah, that's a fair chunk of change, but you're going to the best, imo.

Nix that, Busch Gardens is $90 per day for single park now. Dollywood is $65 for just Dollywood.

I agree. A season pass at other parks is way cheaper than an annual pass at Disneyland. But a one day ticket at regular price to other parks is not that much cheaper than a one day (non-hopper) DL ticket. Many parks charge $60+. They have rides, but not much in the way of themeing. There are some cool coasters out there, but the other kinds of rides are very basic and not unique at all. Their food is even more expensive, and the ride loading takes FOREVER. Disneyland is the best bang for the buck. But it definitely takes some saving and planning.

Yes! I'm about a decade younger than you, but I remember when Disneyland ran a $45 for 45 special for their 45th anniversary in 2000. The prices are just astronomical nowadays.
Well I remember when I was in elementary school and $25 would get me admission, food for the day and a small souvenir! And no adult supervision. Just a group of kids in the park! Not these days!!!

I think admission for kids was $12.

We have a Six Flags near us in Chicago area. When we went last fall it was $70 pp (you can get lower prices if you purchase ahead) Parking was extra. Their version of a Fast Pass is $45 pp and up (additional) While we had a nice time, it is no Disney. Their idea of Halloween was a trail "behind the scenes" where we met 2 characters, DS got 3 pieces of candy and got his picture taken with Sylvester next to a porta potty. Nope, not kidding.

I think Disney use to be the best bang for the buck. Knott's Berry Farms with pre purchased one day adult ticket of around 41 to 44 dollars this month puts Disney to shame for value.

It is part of Disney's "slippery slope". Make 1-day stupid expensive, it makes multi-day seem a better deal in comparison.

$124 for 1-day, 1-park. But I can't do DCA.
$174 for 1-day hopper. No WAY!

If spending $174 to do both parks on 1-day, may as well do:
$200 for 2-day, 1-park per

But DCA is still not a full-day park so:
$245 for 2-day hopper.

Oh, but no magic morning, so:
$270 for 3-day

Oh, but then
$290 for 4-day

Well, then $620 for Deluxe AP with food and merchandise discounts.

Oh, but that AP is blocked on half of Saturdays and no free parking or photo downloads so:
$850 for signature AP

Not for me. I do a full stop and I go to Universal Hollywood instead. We were down for Star Wars and didn't step foot in a park other than during the races, until we drove up to LA.

Wow. That's ridiculous. For $129, you can get a two day ticket to Universal and check out Harry Potter Land. I can't believe a one day ticket costs that much.

For less than that you can buy a Costco Annual Pass to USH.

We started going when DS was 17 months old. He's only 12 yo now. The price increases have been astronomic. I just can't deal with it.

I remember when i used to say that when we went to Disney World. We'd get good rates on hotels or free dining and I'd tell everyone that it's as good a price or better than going to Hawaii or the Caribbean. Now both resorts are out of control with ticket pricing. It's no longer the best bang for your buck. It's expensive, and then when you get there, you realize everyone else in town paid for tickets too and showed up on the same day. While I'm quite addicted to Disney, as are my kids, I'm probably going to need to find a different type of vacation that's cheaper on the wallet and doesn't drive me crazy with large amounts of people. Quite the impossible task.

If you're only going for one day, then a single park ticket would probably be jsut fine. I think CA is a lot of fun and worth the trip, especailly for Radiotor Springs, but I also love te rapids ride and California Screamin', plus Midway Mania is a lot of fun. But you could easily spend an entire day in Disneyland park itself and think itd be pretty rushed too to try to cram everything from both parks into one day, unless it's dead so there is no wait on the rides. But even then still probably wouldn't be as enjoyable or relaxing with running around to hit everything and less chance/time to rerie stuff you really enjoy.
I think park hopper is great for multi-day trips where you can spend the first couple really hanging out in a single park and checking out all they have then usig later days to skip around to what you really enjoyed adn want to revisit.

They have about 5 rides you can take a baby on. That's more than our local Six Flags, where she could only go on the train. Looking at Knott's website a lot of their rides are just rides, just like at Six Flags. It could be a fun place to spend a day if your kids aren't too young, but it doesn't look like much of a family vacation destination. I know they added a new shooting game ride like Buzz and they've really updated the log flume, but I still don't think they truly compare to Disney.

Holy smoke 174 for one day?! Boy I am out of the league for going at all....:sad2:

Is it cheaper at other Costcos? It was $110 I think when I got it last November, but the passes I just saw in Costco are now $130.

This was at a Costco in the Bay Area.

Still cheap, though. And reminds me I need to go again since my pass is good until November, lol!

Ouch. Was thinking of getting a park hopper when I go back in October (tentatively) but I think I'll do Disney for the Halloween Party and then a one day single ticket for DCA.

Or perhaps the other way around. Rumor is DCA may be home to the party this year.
