I thought about this two years ago while we were watching the Illuminations at Epcot.

Does anyone think it is possible (or better still, anyone done it) to watch the fireworks at Epcot, then get over to MK for Wishes at 10pm?

I throw down the challenge!

Steve

I watched both from the balcony of our villa at bCV - does that count :rotfl:

When do you need to know? Plan on trying on our last night, we are having a meal then watching Illuminations before heading back to our hotel (Poly) but then found out MK is night EMH so thought may as well go and spend a couple of hours in there so would like to catch Wishes if we can - pushing it a bit I think but am going to try.

Oh, just noticed your countdown, just before ours!

My thought was, you would have to watch Illuminations from as close to the entrance as possible. It starts at nine, till around half past? cant remember.

Right out, hop a bus is available to the contemporary, then pickup the monorail into MK. It would be easier if the buses went park to park.

All this with 3 tired kids!

Steve

What date do you go and where to?

IllumiNations finishes at 9.20pm. If you're going to get a bus to the Contemporary, it would be quicker to walk to MK from there than have to get up to the platform and then wait for a monorail. You could, of course get a monorail from Epcot to the TTC and then change for MK. Unless you get really lucky with the timings and a bus or monorail is just leaving as you exit the park, the quickest option would probably be a taxi from Epcot to Contemporary and then walk to MK (taxis can't go directly to MK; only to the TTC).

I just had another thought :p. Even if you watch from the World Showcase Plaza area, you're still going to be battling the mass exodus and might not even make the first bus or monorail. There doesn't seem to be much point trying to do it at all if you're going to be so busy thinking about getting out as fast as possible that you're not able to relax and enjoy the show. The taxi to Contemporary/walk to MK option has to the way to go, I reckon - that way you won't have any stressful waiting around. :thumbsup2

3 tired kids - I wouldn't try it!

We are staying doing a split stay but our last night when I planned on trying this we will be staying at the Poly, probably would try the monorail. Our dates are 17th July to 3rd August. I have no experience of the crowds at this time of night as last time we stayed at YC and had a lovely stroll back to our hotel after Illuminations.

I believe if you stand on the beach at the Poly you can see Wishes and the music is piped in, may try that I don't know plans are not set in stone!!!!

Watch Illuminations near International Gateway. Then walk to the BC and get a bus to the MK from there.

I thought about that, but I reckon you'd have to get lucky to make it to MK in time. You couldn't guarantee not having a wait and there's a chance the bus might also being going via the Yacht Club and BoardWalk.

I think I'm with Deb that i would be by International gateway out of Epcot, through there after illuminations, walk to Beach Club, taxi to Contemporary and walk the path to MK. To go out the front of Epcot is going to add maybe 20 minutes, the back way will be fastest;) and especially if i had 3 tired kids to get on and off buses etc.

We did it - minus the children however! We didn't plan to 'til the last minute.

We watched Illuminations from Canada then legged it to the monorail and walked into Main St USA just as the lights went off. Reflecting on it, we realised we were lucky with the monorail timing and it would have been a def. no no with two children in tow. But it was amazing and we were pretty exhilarated when we did it!

I reckon if you planned it right you manage it, Even you wanted a challenge you could try 8:00 Fantasmic, watch from the back, leave as soon as poss and walk to Epcot via the Y & B Club. Illuminations at 9pm, then monorail to MK for Wishes at 10. It would a really tight schedule and you would tired and without great viewing but I reckon possible (without kids of course!!!!!!!)
