Hi! newbie here. I just called to make a reservation for a 2BR Villa at AKV for 3/15/09 to 3/21/09 and was told there are none available. I questioned whether or not they hold some for DVC members and was not given an answer. I was told only Old Key West and Wilderness Lodge villas were available. Here I thought I was making reservations far enough in advance. I have been looking into renting points but have to wait til the 7 month point (no home points currently available) so decided to make them directly. Guess that doesn't always work either. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm guessing you don't own at AKV and that you were trying to make a cash ressie????

If my understanding is correct, in order for a AKV 2BR villa to be open for a cash ressie during that time period, someone who owns there would have had to traded their points out to International Interval for II use that week. Later on, cash ressies may become available....

Welcome to the Dis!

I'm not sure by your post if you are a DVC owner or not :confused3 You may want to check the DVC boards here on the Dis: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7

Not sure what you mean about waiting till the 7 month point to rent points
As for availability next March, it could just be booked up with spring break. Most of the rooms will be held for DVC members, although CRO will have some available. AKV seems to be very very popular and until the new Kidani section opens it may be hard to get a room without home resort advantage.

It's my understanding that you can't get a room until you are under 6 mos at any of the villas. I could be wrong.

If I understand cash ressies correctly, a unit must be declared into the DVC (in other words, the unit's contract has been sold to a DVC member) before it's considered part of the inventory that the DVC can then allow non-members to reserve with cash. I could be dead wrong. I do also believe another way is when members who own at AKV trade out to II or one of the other affiliated timeshare programs, but only if the other timeshares do not have any members who wish to use the unit at the designated time. I have never done this myself, so I could be completely off-base. No flames for my assumptions, please!

I'm interested in the answer to this, because I actually thought it was the opposite. I thought there were certain villas (not by room #) that were always available for CRO reservations - those that are owned by Disney, and not currently owned by a DVC member. Then, later once DVC member-owned villas became available (say from cancellations or whatever), the CRO could ALSO rent those for cash.

I booked a BCV 1BR villa for December on a cash basis, through the CRO, back in February - so clearly there's no need to wait until any 7 month mark or anything to do it that way.

I think they just might be gone due to the holiday/AKL availability issues mentioned by a previous poster.

It's my understanding that Jambo House is sold out and they are currently selling Kidani village, which is not expected to be completed and available for occupancy until sometime next year. So it would be reasonable to expect that with 95% occupancy (or more) possible, it would be extremely difficult to get a villa at AKV through CRO for cash, especially during spring break.
