Is this possible to do?

We (DS 15, me, and my 60something mom) will be arriving at MCO tomorrow around 2pm. We will use ME to get to VWL where we plan to hang out by the pool and explore while waiting for our room.

We were wondering if it is possible to take the WL boat to the Comtemporary, hop on the monorail to the Poly, get a bite to eat then watch the MK fireworks from the beach.

Any other first night suggestions? (we will be doing Downtown Disney on Tuesday)

OR......should we just use a day on our 10 day pass and head for MK????

Your plan sounds like a good one. Save your park days. Make your first day the day to relax & explore. You can ride the monorail to all the monorail resorts & visit each of them. You can even ferry around them as well. Over at Fort Wilderness there are pedal boats that you can rent by the 1/2 hour & even a small petting zoo that you can go over to as well. My daughters love going over to the petting zoo. They are 12 & 16. We are seasonal passholders & there are times that my daughters would rather visit hotels & the zoo as opposed to going to the parks.

That sounds like a pretty good plan to me. Gives you a chance to relax. We used the ferry boats and the monorails quite a lot when we stayed at WL, my DS4 loves the monorail. It did add a bit to some of our journeys, but they were always less crowded than the buses and you could actually get to the monorail resorts pretty easily, which really opened up dining options.

If you are eating at the Poly, and you suddenly decide you simply have to get to MK that minute, it's not all that far, and so easy to get to. So it's always there as an option.

If your 10 day pass expires, and you may not use all of the days, (we purchased for day of arrival, since it was only $3 more), then I would head over to MK, even if you only get a ride or 2 in. If your pass doesn't expire, or you could use the 10 days to better use later on in your vacation, your plan sounds exactly like something I would do on a first day!!!
