March 2010 ...

Use a PIN (yes I have one) to get 30% off a moderate.

Then buy an Annual Pass for all family members, but use that to get Discounted Dining Package?

Possible? Or am I dreaming ....

Hi Ted, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a discounted dining package. Generally you cannot combine discounts. Either you have a room discount, either room only or part of a package (with or without the dining plan), or something like free dining but paying rack rate for the room. Even if you have an AP and you buy a package, you would still need to buy at least a 1 day base ticket as part of your package.

I hope I'm not confusing things. :)

You have it! Buy a one day ... get the ddp for your stay length (i.e Days days) at the market rate, less a discount?

I understand that you can somehow have the one day amount credited to you next year AP.

Yes Ted, you can apply the one day pass to the AP. Actually, you are upgrading a one day pass to an annual pass. Best approach is to enter the park with the one day pass, and then proceed to customer service and upgrade the pass there.

We did this with a one day pass we purchased to qualify for free dining one year. The nice thing about using it to enter the park is that the current value of the one day is credited towards the cost of the AP. When we bought the original one day its cost was at least $5 less. So for the 5 if us it was nice to know that I already had around $400 paid towards our annual passes and an additional $25 credit due to the increased value of the one day. So the original "cost" of free dining had included the requirement to buy one day passes, but I knew we would recoop the cost of this at our next AP purchase.

Just don't misplace those passes! Or use them by mistake. My sil went with us that year of free dining and when she tried to use the pass on another trip they told her she had already used it. They gave her the time and place where it was used.:headache: Don't know how it happened, but she managed her own passes that trip :confused:and ours were put someplace safe and out of reach.

Not sure I have it right. You will have the AP before you get to WDW or buying it there? If you book a room only, and already have an AP, you will be able to add on the DDP without having to buy the 1 day pass.
I have an AP, and book my room with a AP discount- and add the DDP. Don't have to buy the one day ticket.
There is no discount on the DDP, just room rates. I think even if you buy your APs there, before you check in, you may be able to skip having to buy the one day ticket. But as others have said, if you do buy the ticket, it will be applied to your AP at any Customer Service kiosk outside of the parks or DTD. Just be sure everyone brings photo ID.
Have fun planning!

Yes, you can upgrade your 1 day, or any valid ticket, to an AP. I did this last year with a 7 day ticket. I just went to Guest Services and they did it. And from our trip in Oct., since I had an AP, I now have an unused 1 day ticket that I will use somewhere down the road - maybe on another AP.

OT - if they played here in the early 80's, those were some tough years. The late 80's and the winning the Grey Cup in '89 especially was great. And I won't even discuss this year's Grey Cup.
