Is this old news? Free Dining Package thru 12/20

I was lucky enough to have gotten this email pin! I'd gotten some before that didn't apply to our trip, so imagine my excitement when I saw the dates We're going Dec 14-18. I called my AAA agent as soon as possible the next day, and with free dining and the AAA discount, we ended up with an amazing deal!

Careful - you did NOT save with both FD and AAA. Only FD. That is, you are paying rack rate on a MYW package and are getting free dining. You cannot stack discounts.

Actually this isn't true. There IS a room discount ON top of the Free Dining with this pin code promotion. I do agree that she didn't get a AAA discount as well though, the room discount is just built in.

Here is my write up on it....

The RACK RATE, on a 9 night stay at Pop Century. 2 Adults and 2 Kids (5 and 8) Dates December 20-29th, with 1 Day Base ticket and NO dining is..............
$1629.38

The Fall Discount for this exact same package is.................
$1256.48

My Exact Pin Code FREE Dining Package is..........
$1352.58

As you can see, the Pin Code is not only Free Dining, but also a room discount!

Oh and just for the fun of it, the Rack Rate for the exact package I am paying $1352.58 for is $2493.02!! I am saving $1140.44! 9 nights of Dining for my family of 2 adults and 2 children (5 and 8) is only worth $863.64. So the room discount looks to be $276.80 or $30.76 per night.

I was able to upgrade a one day ticket to a 10 day hopper in April with no problems at all.

This was last May when we tried. How old was your one day pass?

Oh, also wanted to add, that the one day passes can only be upgraded to APs. We tried to use an old one to upgrade to a 6 day hopper and it isn't allowed....has to be APs.

This was from a CM that kept trying to upgrade it as well and it wouldn't, so she called someone and found out you could only upgrade to an AP. So I don't think she was misinformed really. We were at the Contemporary trying to do this...I wonder if that makes a difference.

Might have been, darn too! We really only needed a 6 day hopper and ended up having to pay full price for it. It would have been nice to have paid a little less that day.

I do remember this for some reason...and that it is from your vacations. I only see your posts a few times a year really, since I don't really DIS anymore...just my main TV threads and when I actually need to find something out. But I do remember it was last summer you put that picture up.

We'll be down for a couple days before Christmas from 12/20. Unfortunately, we didn't get the December FD pin code but we have APs, so I'm thinking about booking the AP discount at POR but it's not good for the weekend . We're then going to visit my in-laws in Tampa for a few days and then we'll back again at Boardwalk Villas for NYE. It starts to get busy the weekend before Christmas, but if you're there the week before that you should be OK. It won't be too insane. The time between Christmas and New Year's is totally insane, but we like it. We're crazy .

Robin, we are there the 20th to the 1st or 2nd. Due to the FD, we are now coming a day earlier instead (we were arriving the 21st), so might go ahead and leave on the 1st. We are at POP until the 29th, then Boardwalk Inn, for the New Year. Maybe we will see you at the pool!

And I priced the 20th at POP for AP rate for my sister and it was $156, whoa!!

The pass I updated April 2008 was purchased in August 2007 as part of a free dining package. I still have one left so I sure hope they haven't changed the rules.

The poster on the other thread said she talked to Disney and that they should start booking this later today or tomorrow. This is great for those of us who didn't get the free dining email pin code.

I have a new signature photo for you . It was taken by a professional photographer on our Carnival cruise about 3 weeks ago. It was so good that we had to buy the darn thing ... and cruise ship photos are even more expensive than Disney photos!
