Is this OK?

In 2013, we (immediate family of 4) are planning our trip to HHI. We have a 50-pt contract there that we intend to use every 3 years for spring break. So, in 2013, our dates will be March 31-April 5, arriving on Easter Sunday and departing the next Friday.

We know for sure that our family is going, but I have also extended the invitation for my parents to join us. I'm not sure if they will commit to going since Mom has some health issues that tend to spring up at a moment's notice. Since that week will likely fill up quickly, my plan is to use our banked, current and borrowed points (total of 129 points) to secure a 1BR at the 11 month mark.

If, at the 7 month mark, my parents decide to join us, I'd like to cancel the 1BR and book a 2BR (total of 157 points) using banked, current, and borrowed HHI points, along with 3 AKV points banked from 2012 and 4 one-time use points. Will this be possible? Are they able to "hold" a 2BR while they cancel the 1BR to free up the points? I wouldn't want to lose both of them. If we booked the 2BR and then my parents couldn't join us, we'd be OK by ourselves in the 2BR.

Last summer when I called at 7 months to switch a SV 2 bedroom at BLT to a BW view 2 bedroom at BWV, I was worried about the same thing.

The CM told me that she had the ability to hold the room while she changed the room out since I didn't want to lose my SV room at BLT if the BW view room would be gone.

I did express my concern before she started and got her reassurance so I went ahead and there were no issues.

I think you should be fine but make sure you mention it to the CM.

I have been told that the regular MS CM's can not hold inventory and in fact, we lost our AKV Concierge reservation as they were making a change.

Things may be different with the recent software changes and they made another update today so be sure that you ask before you let them make changes.
